This is caused primarily by having incorrect switches in your command line. They have to be in the right sequence or it produces this error. Please post your command line, and I'll help you sort it out.

      "D:\SERVERS\STEAM\SteamApps\common\call of duty modern warfare 3\iw5mp_server.exe" +set sv_config "do_config.cfg" +set dedicated 2 +set sv_maprotation do_rotation +start_map_rotate

        Try this instead:

        "D:\SERVERS\STEAM\SteamApps\common\call of duty modern warfare 3\iw5mp_server.exe" +set sv_config "do_config.cfg" +set net_queryPort 27014 +set sv_maprotation do_rotation +start_map_rotate

If it still doesn't work, add the other Steam port numbers to it. I have found adding some, or all, of these port numbers makes the error go away.

BTW - you don't need to add +set dedicated 2 as it defaults to 2 anyway.

I notified Activision @ 1-800-225-6588 earlier this week when they first pushed out this patch and broke my server then rolled it back a few hours later. Please tell me why they cannot produce and deploy a product that has been tested to work over a broad platform of hardware? The server worked great even after the lack of support from the community and Activision. Only to have it broken by the insuficient CPU check. I can virtualize the server and bypass the CPU requirements however, I prefer to run it native on the rack mounted dedi's for just MW3. I feel sorry for Activision. The lack of forsight in, talent, testing, and deployment departments.

This will be the last Activision/Blizzard product I purchase. I am tired of the lack of support and the unessisary patches without support or testing to the community. have fun selling Xbox and PS3 titles you just lost me as a customer. If anyone wants to contact the MW3 team directly and express your displesure please use the information provided.

I've got the same problem :S

Invalid server configuration - insufficient cpu performance 5.6027 ghz for 2 clients. Minimum 5.7000 ghz required.

First I could run a 12 player server and now I can't even run a 2 player server...

How can I fix this problem? When can I expect a patch? I need a server for ESL wars...

Update: Regarding Chat Session with Activisions MW3 Support

      Tech Specialist Charlie2 Reporting!

      Bryan

I am having issues with the CPU insufficient error. I reported it when the 1.3.x patch was rolled out I was the first to report it last time. I called the MW3 support line and they rolled back the patch 2 hours later. Now they pushed out the patch and broke many dedi's

      this is a big issue!

      Charlie2

What is the video card your running?

      Bryan

      CPU not GPU

      Bryan

Invalid server configuration - insufficient cpu performance 2.7123 ghz for 8 clients. Minimum 5.7000 ghz required.

      Bryan

I have 2 dual core Xeons both running 2.8 that is a total of  11.2ghz

      Charlie2

      Have you restarted the server?

      Bryan

yes several times, and changed the set execution order many times.

      Charlie2

Are you having incorrect switches in your command line?

      Bryan

I have tried many different switches it all worked in 1.2.x. I had the servers running great prior to patch

      Charlie2

      Have you tried contacting Steam?

      Bryan

      yes

      Bryan

then patched no matter if I have 1 client or 18 it still gives and error

      Bryan

COD4 had a great server system and I had no issues with the tools. On the other hand this is one of the worst excuses for a dedicated server.

      Charlie2

Are you able to take a screen shot so I can forward this information

      Bryan

      yes

      Charlie2

      Please send it

      File attachment upload has started.

The file Server.png (30.69KB) was received.

      Charlie2

So we have the screen shot and we are going to forward this issue to a department that can further assist you with this matter, we have included all your information and they will be contacting you via email.

      Charlie2

Is there anything else we can help you with Bryan?

      Bryan

      ok thank you

      Bryan

is there any workaround or recommended  switches

      Bryan

the lack of documentation behooves me

      Charlie2

The response to the lack of documentation!!!!!! I was referred back to my own post on the community forums....... WTH really!!!! Activision and IW needs to pull there head out of you know where. What a great way to support your customers by referring them back to themselves for support.

I hope they can address this issue and send me a personal appology with a thank you for pointing out the lack of support and shortcomings of there company.... I hope they already knew the failings within the system however some companies have to hire consultants becuase they are incapable of self evauation.

      Thank you,

      Bryan

Thought so. Everyone who is having problems with the 1.3 server files has 2 GB of RAM. Whereas all those who don't have 4 or more. The 1.3 files draw more into RAM than 1.2 did, which is why it worked for you with 1.2 but not 1.3.

      Basically, increase your server's RAM.

Nice theory although I proved it to be wrong. Dante, you should really test your theory before making it a fact.

I have 4gb on the server that is dedicated for MW3 and not virtualized. "Everyone," is to broad of a term and I would like you to back your claim up with hard data before you go trolling on forums and answering questions that you have no clue if valid.

~ Back to square one: Still waiting for an official response from Activision and the drones of incompetence.

Donte, I don't mean to be a tool or brash. I want people to only post valid answers or possible ideas to resolve the issue. I have queued up both versions of the server 1.2.x and 1.3.x they almost use identical amounts of ram. This is not a hardware issue it is either a switch command issue or a physical coding issue/bug. If you have any physical data to back your previous claim then I apologize. I have tested MW3 1.3.x on 3 different servers all with the same result. If I virtualize using Vmware or hyperV I can bypass this error. That leads me to believe the error pertains to the CPU check written by IW.

        Sincerely,

        Bryan

        dante2010, you the idiot!

Already there is a worker variant a server without check cpu, it works for me also I is happy, that there are still good guys.

  • Re: New patch makes "CPU performance" Error Permanent

Bryan is absolutly correct. It has nothing to do with RAM. We run a IBM rack mount eserver and we have over 4 g of RAM, plus I increased the virtual memory just to see if that would work. It didn't! I have followed the same paths as those above. I called Activision and filed a complaint, they took my info, my dxdiag and screenshot of the error. Hopefully the will have this resolved within the next 48 hours...

  • Re: New patch makes "CPU performance" Error Permanent

the new update to 1.4 seems to be nothing more than a rollback to 1.2. I can start the server at least now, just not using a 18 player configuration. Also, now the RCON commands are completely screwed up.... typing status into the command line returns the kick command..?? Anyone else having this problem?

    • Re: New patch makes "CPU performance" Error Permanent

I still with that problem permanently, it was not a roll back for me it's the same. I can start the server manually with a bat with no problems but when I try to start it by service on windows i have that error.

Already tryed with same user (Administrator) and Real Time permission but without sucess.

      • Re: New patch makes "CPU performance" Error Permanent

Current fix for me is to lower to 12 player slots... Where prior to last 2 patch i could run 18 slots no bother.

I also tried to set sv_maxclients "18" once the server is up, then do a start_map_rotate. The Value is registered but the server remains at 12 slots

Of course ZERO support so far on anything Dedicated Server related from IW/SH. Thanks guys!
