Killstreak system 3.0

matuzz

The dream killstreak system for future Call of Duty games.

The new Killstreak system is consisted from two options: Classic and Specialist.

Classic:

Choose your 3 streaks from all of the killstreaks. Get enogh points to achieve the specific streak.

After getting all of the 3 rewards they reset so you can get them again with out dying.

Specialist:

Same as in Modern Warfare 3 get perks by getting points.

The core of the system:

Killstreak rewards will not stack (count towards next one) so getting kills with attack chopper will not give points towards next reward exept on special circumstances.

How to get points:

Kill: 1 point.

Flag capture (domination): 1 point

Flag capture (CTF): 2 points

Returning flag (CTF):1 point

Bomb plant: 2 points

Bomb defuse: 2 points

Killing bomb planter/defuser: 1 point + 1 point from kill.

Capturing HQ: 1 point

Destroying HQ: 1 point

Destroying enemy Killstreak: 1 point

If you kill bomb planter/defuser with killstreak you get 1 point!

Also if your killstreak destroys enemy killstreak you get 1 point, if we are going to see similar killstreak as harrier strike in (MW2) or Grim Reaper (BO).

This system will encourage the players to play objective and keep the game fast paced and still not having killstreaks devastating the battlefield 24/7

This is perfect!  I really do hope something like this is what Treyarch go with, as MW3's endless killstreaks are a pain in the a$$.  Gun on gun gameplay please I would also add into your idea's for 'pointstreaks' that it would be good to still get recognition (i.e. 1 point) for shooting down UAV/CUAV/Airsupport- what do you think?

Yeah I think it could be added but it might be needed to be beta tested to see if it effects too much. Or make it a perk:

      Air Defence:

Get points to your streak by taking out enemy killstreaks.

      Air Defence PRO:

      Guided weapons lock-on faster

i would like to see 1 point for dom flag defend as well, running aroung capping flags doesnt win games, capping an defending 2 does

the point for destroying kill streak rewards is good too

    • Re: Killstreak system 3.0
      matuzz

The thing is that its fairly easy to get flag defences in Domination.

For example you frag two guys who are taking flag you would then get 4 points (2 for kill and 2 for the defence points).

So I think it would be little bit too much. It would result in horrible flag camping :S

And take out the purpose of going to capture the flags.

      • Re: Killstreak system 3.0

        I agree...

As long as a defend is worth more points than a normal kill, then that should hopefully be enough incentive to get people to cap and defend. Off topic- I actually think that captures and defends should be worth more than they currently are, and that kills should count for less points than they currently are.  But defends counting towards pointstreaks/killstreaks might just result in making it way too easy to build up your streak.

      • Re: Killstreak system 3.0
        fisheadz

hows it any different from the bomb planter/defuser ? camping the bomb

yeah you are right, although im not convinced thats a bad thing, imo could be very very wrong but i recon it would flow the game towards b more, which i feel what dom should be about. an its fair as its the same for both teams. the more pointstreak rewards gained, the more points are availible for destroying the rewards, i dont think it would remove purpose of capping them, as to defend it you gotta have it in the 1st place.

it may free up spawning a lil bit as people will camp b, making the transition from spawn to b easier, you have an rough idea where the enemys coming from [hopefully no spawning behind you] which what happens when people are jus runnin round cappin flags as they get free points, you know theres gonna be a fight there so dont jus run in. an when youve got it, it makes holding it more important

could it not be modified so it would be 2 kills but 1 defend [your frag ex] as it was only 1 defend even tho there was 2 people

as said its jus my thoughts, prob very wrong, i like dom very much though it is apparent that many people use it to kill farm rather than play the obj, promoting the importance of the obj may help

i agree with your op for sure no doubt, jus you got points for flag returns, bomb defuses ect ect

yeah i do camp b, i cap spawn, then cap b an i camp it up good an proper, ive worked hard to get it, prob died 3-4 times gettin it, an you are not gettin it back without a fight

    Edite OP:

Added 1 point fot taking out killstreak, also if your killstreak takes out killstreak you get 1 point.

I would prefer a system more like counter-strike's or homefront's were you accumulate points for the things you do (like the things you have listed) and can buy things like a deathmachine or a blackbird.

  • Re: Killstreak system 3.0

They need to do away with "point streaks", the reason there is so much air support in MW3 is because its based off point streaks, see in a game like Domination, you cap the first two points with hardline and you already have a UAV up.  It needs to be like BO/WAW/MW1, there are just killstreaks, and you can only get them by getting kills and if you die, they reset again, it keeps the game more focused on gunplay, and less on getting points for doing objective parts of the game and overloading the air with support that really wasnt earned by playing tactically.  I hope that Treyarch does not listen to ANYONE thinking that "point streaks" from MW3 should be in their game, because it basically made that game Trash, with other problems as well.  I have no problem with them ramping up XP for getting objectives etc, but you should not get rewarded with killstreaks because you stand on a flag for 2 seconds.

    • Re: Killstreak system 3.0
      matuzz

In my suggestions the points will always reset if you die also you can't get points with killstreak kills.

The reason MW3 was spammed with constant air support was because:

      1. Support chain

      2. Killstreaks giving you more killstreaks.

Also in my killstreak suggestions there is 3 Killstreaks that take out airsupport (4 if Grimreaper will come back). And then there is the launchers. This system shouldn't make the game spammed with airsupport.

  • Re: Killstreak system 3.0

I like many of your suggestions. I don't however like the boobytrap package, the strafe run or the EMP. I can't see them making an EMP for the game, especially at such a high score, but you never know. I can't see them using three MW3 pointstreak options such as them, although I do like using them myself.

Good suggestions overall, one of the main things for me is that I'm sure TreyArch won't make killstreaks stackable, which is great.

  • Re: Killstreak system 3.0

i am sorry they sound as boring as they were in lag ops.  i think they should make them more fun, instead of dogs, have another animal., maybe if they have a small map like nuke town you could have something like zombies that can move slightly quicker .just in that one small map.

i just think after lag ops and laggy mw3. they need to make it more fun, take some of the frustrations out of it.cod is a great game when it is running well. but when its bad its terrible.......and i have never understood people complaining about stakable killstreaks. you have the option to take them down before they do any damage. it will not stop the camping...

    • Re: Killstreak system 3.0
      matuzz

Umm the camping is not the main problem and yes tell me how you take out airstirikes, mortars, predators, straferuns, nukes, emps, dogs, etc. down before they make any damage?

In modern warfare you play with your killstreaks not with gun. Which is boooooooooooooring.

  • Re: Killstreak system 3.0

UAV should never again be a 3 killstreak, it is incredibly powerful and should be a 4-5 minimum.

    • Re: Killstreak system 3.0
      matuzz

One perk can just counter it...

Also its easy as hell to shoot down now if you even get poins to your point streak from it people will carry more launchers.

Then also the CUAV or EMP blocks it.

And antiair killstreaks will drop them from the sky.

There is so many counters to it so its fine being 3 killstreak.

  • Re: Killstreak system 3.0

The issue with the killstreak system is that it rewards camping and promotes playing for the killstreak instead of the objective. I see no reason why you can't implement a system where you don't lose your points when you die, so you can play the objective without fear of losing progress toward your killstreak reward, but at the same time, rewarding those that do go on a killstreak.

Suppose you have a system where points don't reset when you die, but the most powerful killstreaks are like 50 points so it's more balanced. In order to continue to make killstreaks relevant, I think you should be awarded point bonuses for going on killstreaks. Go on a 5 killstreak and get a 5 point bonus. With your 10 points, you can get your Napalm strike. Go on a 10 killstreak and get a 10 point bonus. With your 25 points, you can get your Blackbird. Go on a 15 killstreak and get a 15 point bonus. With your 45 points, you can get your dogs. For balance reasons, bonuses would reset at this point so a 20 killstreak would only be a 5 point bonus.

This might actually reduce killstreak spam because you have to get that third killstreak before you can earn the first one again.

This won't eliminate campers, but it might make people less worried about dying and more focused on playing the objective.

That wouldn't really work in TDM nor FFA

      • Re: Killstreak system 3.0

Sure it would. 15 killstreak will still get you dogs because of the bonuses. Or you could get a 10 killstreak and two five killstreaks. The difference would be that if you choose to go for the high streaks, you are punished by not getting your lower killstreaks again until you get the higher one.

Let's say someone wants to run UAV, Blackbird, and Dogs. UAV would be 5 points, Blackbird would be 25 points, and Dogs would be 45. If you start out the game with a 10 killstreak and die, you'd have 25 points and get your UAV and Blackbird. If you respawn and go on a 5 killstreak and die, you wouldn't get another UAV, but you'd have 35 points. At this point, you might go on a stretch where you don't get any bonuses, but you go 10-2. So far in the game you'd be 25-4 and get your dogs. With the current killstreak system, you may have gotten 4 UAVs and a Blackbird. With the new system, you would get a UAV, a Blackbird, and Dogs.

With the new system, your killstreak bonuses definitely help you get to the highest rewards, but even when you don't get a bonus every spawn, you'll still be working toward the rewards.

    Just my opinion:

Put the Spy Plane & Counter in the same 3 killstreak tier. At least players early on can counter them considering how easy & spammable spy planes can be.

Basically, there's a choice of either supporting your team with spy planes or countering them.

In regards to the assault killstreaks, it's too much of a copy/paste from Black Ops.

I'd like to see alot of new & fresh assault killstreaks. Why bring back the Valkyrie Rockets & Mortar Team considering how it was rarely used in BLOPS?

I'd like to use MW3 as an example: The Reaper, IMS, AH6-Overwatch, Assault Juggernaut, Assault Drone were some pretty neat pointstreaks.

On a positive note though, I like how you've done the objective setup though & not stacked killstreaks.

    • Re: Killstreak system 3.0
      matuzz

Yeah I want fresh killstreaks too, I just used some killstreaks to present what type of killstreak you could get with said points.

I think Valkyire rockets are great, the number on reason no one used them was that they were awarded from 7 kills as you can see I listed them at 5. Because 7 was just way too much compared to attack chopper.

      And thanks for the feedback!

  • Re: Killstreak system 3.0
    thebiindsniper

Nice idea and all.  But what if people want to earn rewards, without having their point streak reset upon death?  IMO, the fear of losing a point streak, is what causes people not to pursue objective.  And those people often cower in the distance.

Each class, should equip a "Style" of earning those rewards.  Similar to the strike package, only instead of selecting the type of rewards and how they are earned, you are only changing the way you are earning rewards.

Slayer - Objective pursuits, destroying air support, and kills earn points.  Killstreaks kills add to more killstreaks.  Resets to zero upon death.

    Objective/Support -

In Objective Games - Objective pursuits and destroying air support earns points.  Kills do not earn points (unless they defended or offended the objective).  Killstreak kills do not add to more killstreaks.  Point Streaks do not reset upon death.

In Deathmatch games - Kills earn points.  Killstreaks do not add to more killstreaks.  Point Streaks do no reset upon death.  SUPPORT based rewards are only usable.

  • Re: Killstreak system 3.0

Im really on the fence with this topic, i think support should stay though. There are times when im playing and simple fun, i think support allows players to be more relaxed with the game in general.

I have took a look at KS list and i already see the problems with that list.

    First off :

Boobytrap package - a 3 Ks with killing effect i never think is a good idea, let alone a chance of  possible triple kill

Mortars/ Artillery - do we need two type of artillerys?

Emp - i really feel is not needed

PGM-17 Thor - What would this KS actually do ?

My idea would be to maybe shorten the Ks list down a bit because, we all know only really effective KS will be used. May be make care packages have some of the under used Ks and make the only obtainable in CP's

  • Re: Killstreak system 3.0
    Galacticspartan

These are killstreaks for Black Ops 2? That's pretty much a copy/paste stuff from black ops. It would be completly STUPID. The points ideas, yes are a great idea, but I perfer newer ideas than "Hey, lets just have all killstraks from Black Ops come to the next game!" idea. If Treyarch does do this, it means not only they're getting lazy on kill streaks, it means they'll lose more customers to MW3.
