Balancing the Stealth Bomber

vileself

Its no secret that the majority of  MW3 players are confused as to why the Stealth Bomber is in the Support strike package. I have a feeling that removing it from the Support package and putting it into the Assault package is somewhat out of the question but perhaps a more simple approach to balancing it would be okay. An idea I had would be that any Stealth Bomber kills would count toward the team score but would NOT count as kills towards the individuals personal score. This would enforce the Stealth Bomber as something that is helping the team as a whole. Perhaps a lame idea, but I think that would definately be better than it is now. Its like, at the 5 minute mark of every match there are 3 Stealth Bombers coming through and its a 50/50 wether or not Im gonna get buzzkilled by one of them. Then when the match is almost over there are usually a couple Juggs running around.

Another solution is making the Stealth Bomber an 18 kill reward. Its too easy to get as it is now, and its pretty damn powerful, especially as a "support" streak.

Only way - place it in the Assault package at about 10 kills remove the sound from it when entering the map to make it usable as one.

Stealth Bomber? What's that? Isn't that the killstreak that forces me to go prone with my Trophy System all the time? People want it in Assault now? Assault has the most useless and bloated killstreaks, so why not add it there!

I dont think switching it to the Assault package is a possibility at this point. I get killed by Stealth Bombers all the time. Sure I hear it coming and sure I get to cover, but I often die anyways. The bombs have a wide blast radius and cover the full length of the map. Sometimes I can get out of the way, but sometimes its just too late.

I just dont feel its fair when I get buzzkilled on my Specialist or Assault streak by someone who got an easy killstreak with the Support package. If the SB kills didnt count towards your own personal stats and only counted towards the teams total score then I think less people would use it and it would fit in more nicely as a support killstreak.

Why does everyone feel that if something kills them, it needs changing? 90% of the time, you can get to a place where the Stealth Bomber will not kill you. If you feel that percentage should be lower, learn the maps.

Reasons why the Stealth Bomber should stay at Support and at 14 Point Streak:

*It takes 14 Points. That means the user has to kill 14 enemies/killstreaks/equipments before they even get to use it. When I play, half the other team is lucky to get above 10 kills.

*You can hear it coming for almost 3-5 seconds. If you can't get to cover in that time, you are doing something wrong. If you can't hear it coming, turn down your rap music.

*On HC, you are more likely to die by your own Bomber than you are to get kills with it.

*If you are trapped on one flag on Domination, its a good way to get your team free.

*On HQ, its a great way to keep the opposition away from the HQ while you cap.

I only have Stealth Bomber on two of my classes and my main class, I use Specialist.

-Move the Stealth Bomber to a 9-kill Assault Streak

-Move the Strafe Run to a 7-kill Assault Streak

-Move Precision Airstrike to 14-kill Support Streak

Sorry man, dont tell me that Im doing something wrong because thats not the case whatsoever. If you're telling me that I should camp inside so Im safe from Bombers then thats out of the question. Im a run n gunner and I traverse the entire map. I can hear the stealth bombers coming and I immediately run to cover.

Why running to cover isnt always easy:

A:sometimes there are enemies inbetween you and cover so dealing with them takes valuable time.

B:sometimes you are far away from cover and simply cant make it in time.

C:many buildings in CoD have holes in the roof therefore running into the closest building for cover is often a futile attempt at surviving

D: even in instances where you can get into cover the stealth bomber will still kill you anyways because the bombs blast radius can reach 10-15 feet into a building if they happen to land outside the door/entrance that you entered.

Bottom line is they are unfair as a SUPPORT killstreak. They usually grant 2-4 kills for someone who doesnt deserve them. Someone mentioned switching the Precision Airstrike with the Stealth Bomber and I felt that was a very good idea. The PA is far less deadly than the SB yet its twice as difficult to get. Its easy to get 14 kills in a single match, especially if you're playing an objective game. Its not always easy to keep a killstreak going, hence why the Support package is available to people in the first place.

I only want it to be not so easy to achieve, whether in support or assualt, because its soooooo annoying when it shakes my screen like a mofo and gets me killed. Its not even the fact that the stealth bomber itself kills me, but that it GETS me killed. The majority of the time a stealth bomber flys over head im in the middle of a gun battle with one or multiple enemies. That sh*t shakes me screen like crazy and the enemy is somehow able to shoot me through all that. Its real irritating, haha. Most of the time its MY own team's stealth bomber thats gets me killed too, which is actually pretty funny.

  • Re: Balancing the Stealth Bomber

I haven't had any issues with the stealth bomber, it's the regular air strike that's more troublesome, IMO.

You joking? The regular airstrike, which actually has to be earned... that is worse than a predator missile... is the problem? Not something a moron can get every game, get a few kills with, and severely disrupt the flow of the game?

So a Precision Airstrike that requires you to not die is more troublesome compared to a Stealth Bomber which you can continuously die over & over again until you get it in which it "rewards" you multi-kills?

      • Re: Balancing the Stealth Bomber

Precisely. I just find myself being more annoyed from being killed by Precision Airstrikes than when I'm killed by the Stealth Bomber. It's not because I think either is cheap, but just because I just find the former more irritating.

  • Re: Balancing the Stealth Bomber

I just love how it gets me when im in a building or underground. The only way to fix the problem is removing it from support.

In a very close game of KC on Resistance yesterday an enemy called in a Stealth Bomber and got a quint. I was one of the five who died. He immediately called in a Jugg after that.  We lost just because someone was able to get 14 kills in an objective game despite the fact that he died 23 times, that seems rather unfair to me. The Stealth Bomber and Juggernaut this guy called in didnt "support" his team, they just demonlished our team and literally made it impossible to win.

If he had called in a Precision Airstrike and an Assault Jugg then the butt whoopin we got would have been justified but getting demolished by that Stealth Bomber was such a game changing event that we couldnt even recover from it. It was just a freebee for him. Game changing events should NEVER be that easy to obtain! If you're gonna change the course of the game you must earn it!

As long as he helped them win, it DID support his team. I still don't like the idea of the Stealth Bomber and  Juggernaut being in support, though.

In the beginning, I played assault. That was made worthless when 3 out of 6 players started carrying Stingers around. So, I switched to Specialist.. A bit after that, I started playing against clans who ONLY used Support. They all had A-UAV, Stealth Bomber, and EMP. If you've played against one of those clans before (which you likely have), you know how  annoying it is. But, you know what they say. "If you can't beat em, join em."

The Stealth Bomber itself barely kills me. It just shakes my screen and lets an enemy kill me.

If my helicopter comes out and kills a bunch of enemies then by your logic it is "supporting" my team, so why arent there any choppers in the support package? Support killstreaks are meant to support your team in a defensive manner. Its supposed to be for players who want to give their team little aids by marking enemies on the minimap or throw out armor for their team, people who want to take out enemy air support etc. Things that will support your team without winning the game for you.

Assault killstreaks will support you in a way that progress your score further. These killstreaks are justifiably earned because you cant die during your streak. The Stealth Bomber is a killstreak that will progress your score further just like a helicopter or  Precision Airstrike would therefore it naturally is better suited as an Assault killstreak.

        Assault=Killing enemies
        Support=Helping your team

        Theres a difference.

Even at 18, depending on the match and game mode I could still get at least 2 almost every game because of how support streaks work. I love getting an emp and knocking players SB or other air support out of the sky with it.
