Common Courtesies

ghamorra
What are some you'd like to see your teammates practice.
Mine is calling out when you're trying to gamble on obtaining an enemy CP. Today I was running past a guy who was trying to hijack a crate and he not only blew me up, but one other person

Shouka
Pick up my Balistic Vests

coltfirearms
Don't use DMH or FMG9s

opb81
Call out enemy positions. Especially when you're in a Reaper or AC-130

dannytanner17
Let your teammate pick up their own tag
If someone says they're close to a MOAB ease up on the killing

mike030270
If someone just died, deny the kill

Mecha75
Call out when you're capping the 3rd flah to let your team know the spawns will flip

gambit1969
Be smart when airsupport is up, if you can't shoot it down take cover

crunch1200
Don't be a douche on the mic, it's just a game. Also don't blare your music

vims1990
If you have Blind-Eye and a Stinger, use them to shoot stuff down

Izjar11
Don't stand in front of me while I'm shooting

robsstang
If I'm trying to cap a flag, help me out

DaShuk2381

Don't stand in doorways. It's not just common courtesy, its common sense

  • Re: Common Courtesies

I like to have at least one class with sit-rep. So I always alert teammates of portable radars, care package traps, etc. Even if I try to take a portable radar out, but die in the process, I give my teammates a headsup.

If people could do the same, we have a better chance at winning the match/objective. But people tend to use mics to either wait for someone to talk smack about them, or do the smack talking themselves.

The only time I meet super chill people who watch their teammates back is late at night.

    HEREIAMNOW

If I am playing CTF, and I have the flag, and my whole team is around me, please escort me.

Yes, and get out of my way.  I always have the right of way.

If an enemy runs past you, kill him and don't let me get shot in my back.  Especially if you are a camper.

    • Re: Common Courtesies
      SULLY130EighT

Oh man, I feel you. Not just capture the flag, but all gamemodes. I don't get it when people let an enemy sneak by them when they're camping for whatever strategy reasons, just for me to get killed, pisses me off. At least let me know to turn around and shoot them.

  • Re: Common Courtesies

If you don't have blind eye or assassin when the enemy has air support, PLEASE do not go anywhere near me!

Last night I was playing Seach+destroy, the enemy just called a UAV and my teammate runs right next to me and we both die just because he didn't have assassin on

  • Re: Common Courtesies
    DaShuk2381

Actually shoot people when you see them instead of watching me die and then finishing off the enemy so you can get Avenger or whatever. That drives me nuts to no end, I'll get shot by a guy who walks past 2 of my teammates and they don't even so much as pull the trigger until after I'm dead.

  • Re: Common Courtesies

If you see me trying to CAP a flag and you're running by - at least pause for a second and help me get it done.

It kinda is the point of the game mode.   PTFO

    • Re: Common Courtesies

8 times out of 10 times I'm probably running with a stinger and let team know if i have assault killstreak sorted or not. If i only have 1 shot left in stinger i let team know so someone can swap class and take it out with me. I commentate whether i get a hit or not as this can help .

  • Re: Common Courtesies
    Izjar11

Its a tough thing to expect someone to do things in the game, but one thing that I tell my team not to do is to get in front of my character especially if you see me shooting. Get to my right or left but not in front.

  • Re: Common Courtesies
    vims1990

As a common courtesy, if you're using Blind Eye, have the decency to help out a teammate with taking air support.

Just because you're protected by it, doesn't mean you can't carry a Stinger to assist those who are being taken by Attack Helicopters etc.

  • Re: Common Courtesies

On teamwork. How about not acting like a total fool and think you ae the supreme commander of all that is the way of combat in COD. I don't mind playing as a team and maybe holding an area down, but with some moron is barking orders out yelling at the team because they didn't do what he said, kill the person that he is trying to point out to you, gets annoying. Too many times have I come across people like this. I hate to mute people because you should be helping each other out, but lets take it down a notch.

Which brings up another point, if you have a mic on for the sole purpose of blaring your gangsta rap, turn your mic off. You are clearly not their to help the team, but annoy people. Again back to the mute thing. I hate doing it becasue you should be communicating with the team to help win. Oh and if your kid is crying in the background, put the game down and be a parent.

  • Re: Common Courtesies
    gambit1969

When the enemy has air support up dont run around outside like a headless chicken trying to shoot it down with a small gun, at least try and get some cover

    • Re: Common Courtesies
      ghamorra

I hate this so much. Just yesterday I say an enemy Heli rack up 5kills that I counted. I would have shot it down but I didn't have the class equiped at the moment. If you know there's a Heli at the very least hide inside or after your 2nd or 3rd death put on Bline-Eye

    WHen playing domination:

    - Have the smarts to play like the rest of you team and stop trying to 3-cap when there is no need

    - Conversely, when you have such a lead that you may as well go for the complete doimnation, let your team know you are going into the enmy spawn so your team knows that someone may be spawning behind them (if you ever wondered how you went from easily holding 2 flags to being dominated in 10 seconds, someone on your team did it to you)

    HC games:

Stop running in front of your teammates line of fire

    Anygame, core mode:

    - If you are ging to run in front of someone's line of fire, pay attention to where (s)he was shooting and help them take out the enemy instead of only blocking their view so you both get killed.

    - Stop trying to go for a knife kill when shooting at the person would have killed themfaster, thus preventing your teammate from dying (e.g. go for the rescue, and not the revenge)

    Anygame mode:

    - Don't stand in doorways

    - Don't line prone in doorways

    - Don't run to the objective and stop to look at it (you will likely get shot anyways, and by stoping you just blocked your teammates and gave the enemy a multi-kill)

    - Cap the flags!

    - TDM/FFA : killwhore; Objective game modes : PTFO! (no one wants to watch your beasting-I-ignored-the-objective-look-at-my-MOAB youtube vid)

    • Re: Common Courtesies
      Mecha75

Nice list.  I would add to your domination list:
      - Call out when you are bumping the third flag (i.e just running through).  If playing in a team it is sometimes helpful with flushing a guy or two out to come "protect" their only flag

  • Re: Common Courtesies
    mdm123456789

Simply play the objective. If it's TDM or FFA then run wild. If it's anything else, people need to have more of a team play mindset.

  • Re: Common Courtesies
    Mecha75

I run sitrep pro now, so I usually call out that the package is a fake or not and if my team mate is an idiot and tries to take it I let them (usually some random).  But I used to yell for everyone to clear out while I am trying to take it before I used sitrep.

  • Re: Common Courtesies

On KC, if you see a teammate trying to get their own tags and they haven't been boosting, let them.

Also on KC, if a teammate says they are only 2 kills away from a MOAB and your team is up by 20 or so tags, stop grabbing them.

If the scoreboard shows they've been busy apart from kills just about a maybe but if they're a bolt hole sitter or I just hover behind someone and run from the tag then no way.

      • Re: Common Courtesies

I am a rusher, and have a difficult time sitting, but I'll admit to being a camper in this instance until about 17 kills in.  When I saw the score continue to go up and people continued to grab tags I was rushing like normal for the last five or so kills and had the last two in my sights when the game ended.

I had also been rushing in the same lobby for some time and only camped to try for the MOAB.  If it was a closer game, I would have gone back to rushing immediately.

        • Re: Common Courtesies
          monkeylord

Thats what I mean from a glance at the board mixed with as you go round the map you get a feel for how they've played a rusher who eases off near the end of their MOAB streak fair dinkum it's a game and there's no need to be a douche so if they need it easing up for a few moments then cool.

But seriously the ones who harbour out in spot the way I see it is you did bog all apart from feed off your teams work and now you want the team to ease  up so you can get an MOAB thats a no no.

Also as you'll know the best way to controll tag flow is to be at the front the MOABs i've managed to nail have always been out after tags if I feel that flow then I just miss every 3rd tag or so and the game normally runs long enough to get it.

I've had this happen to a bunch of people I've played with including myself. A couple times when I was right around 20 or so kills I asked my team to take a step back and defend so I can get my MOAB. Rarely do they listen

        I agree with you.

But I had to smile when you said, "people I've played with including myself" I just imagined 2 ghamorra's running around and saying "hello" to each other then keep on playing there seperate ways and occasionally bumping into yourself during the game

    • Re: Common Courtesies

If I have seen a teammate just walk by a tag and not pick it up anytime throughout the game, I will go for the last tag to end the game. I will not wait just to let someone get a moab when they didn't pick up tags.

  • Re: Common Courtesies

in any game mode if you get killed call out enemy count and locations to your team especially if you are by yourself running flank. Same goes if you are using reaper ac130 etc and the enemy is hiding in building.

I like the one about alerting your team about potential spawn flips in dom and something we do reguarly when i play with my clan.

    mangofish78

Pay attention to the RADAR!!! The amount of times I've been running Recon, painting everything like I'm bloody Picasso only for my team mates to totally ignore them, runnin off in some random direction... WTF?!!!!

  • Re: Common Courtesies
    Nuk1014

A stinger is not for decoration. If you have one on your back, at least TRY and take air support down. It annoys me so much when my teammates get endlessly slaughtered by the Attack Helicopter while they have Launchers on their back.

  • Re: Common Courtesies

I have a HC dom class that I use to support my team. It's M4A1 with silencer and extended mags. I have a stinger, Blind Eye, Assassin and Sit-Rep. I will camp when they need defence on a flag (though I prefer an LMG for point defence), but I run the map STAYING AWAY from the one flag. Harrass and support by keeping birds out of the sky.

We all use mikes and do call outs to let people know where we are and what's happening.

Play the game, win the match. If you want to go nuts and do kills, do a mode that is built for it. If you are playing a TEAM game, do the TEAM thing.

So far I agree with most of the posts here and suggest that newer players learn to read and remember.

Rushing sidekicks give me a three meter spread please. Camping sidekicks do we need four guys lined up looking out the same window, someone please watch our flanks.

I never understood this. You're not doing much defending by all staring at the same point

  • Re: Common Courtesies

I think I have thought all the above comments before, If only there was a way to get all the numptys on Mw3 to read this thread. Great thread with some great points, I would love to add to it but I think its all been said now.

    Don't use DMHs or FMG9s

  • Re: Common Courtesies

This is opposite to what someone else said but If I die, and you see my tag, pick it up! I cannot believe how people are actually trying to 'be nice' by letting a tag go so your teammate can pick up their deny. You're are not being nice, you are letting the enemy have a longer chance at getting a kill confirmed. I don't care if you get more for picking up your own tag, don't just walk by the damn things and not pick them up. It's bad enough with tac insert still in kill confirmed. The gaming community once again exploited a device to where its taking advantage yet not considered bad enough to be removed. And then there is the whole debate about what's considered actually boosting. If they just remove it, it would be an even playing field. Bottom line, pick up the damn tags whether it's yours or your teammates.

  • Re: Common Courtesies

Run straight to B with me at the start of a Domination game.

  • Re: Common Courtesies
    MysteriousDeeds

In Domination or other objective modes, if you call in a Predator Missile and the enemy has up a Pavelow, Overwatch, Strafe Run, Chopper, etc. if you have the chance to take the airsupport out do it. Can't tell you how much times I have helped out teammates this way.

    • Re: Common Courtesies
      YO_MOM_IS_NEXT

Back in the day, a lobby full of mics = teamwork = fun. Now I mute the entire lobby so I don't have to hear smack talk. Even still I call out enemy locations.

I'd be super happy if people would use them to help teammates.

Also, teammates: please stop destroying my equipment. If you do, I promise to not quit your lobby.

      That's all I have, really.

  • Re: Common Courtesies

Thank God someone mentioned this! So many times you see people running past red tags like they are going to catch something from them. For the love of God people please grab them!

  • Re: Common Courtesies

I would also like to add that is you happen to see a team member on the edge of the map (or anywhere else for that matter) calling in a manned perk take a few moments to help guard them.. They may actually help your TEAM win the match.

There are too many people in this for the glory of one and not the glory of the team.
