Just played about 2 hours of the beta. I just don't know what it is about Call of Duty, the MP is fantastic. BF3......not so much. My best game I went 17-9, a previous poster said it was confusing, it was. Not very straight forward, VERY hard to spot enemies at a distance, and the guns were, eh. I have never purchased a BF game and I won't be with this one. Can't wait for MW3.
To be fair I wouldn't judge the game on the beta it has already been said that the game is actually a lot more polished than the beta as the beta was released with old code.
This is what dice said:
A lot of what you are seeing in the BETA doesn’t exist in the main game already. 1st Party submissions mean we couldn’t give a version of the latest code in the BETA but the retail game is well ahead of what you are seeing now with a lot more bug fixes already in place.
I have both the hardened edition of mw3 and limited edition bf3 preordered. So no bias here
Also MW3 multiplayer at COD XP was the demo, not the beta so the multiplayer was completed (unless IW made a couple of changes in regards to feedback) after COD XP.
BF3 beta as stated numerous times is an older build and more for testing the servers.
Bugs seen in the beta are most likely already fixed in the final version.
Here's some good information about it:
When a new game is created or updated, there are several stages in development before the product can be sold in the commercial marketplace. You might remember our Alpha Trial from July which was the first stage, in which the game is tested by software testers and gamers. A beta version is the name for the second stage of software testing.
The beta version of a software release is considered to be a preview. It has most of the standard features, but is not yet ready for wide release or sale. During this point, the studio will collect feedback from users about the product's usability — what they like and what should be changed — before the game´s wide release. A beta version of a game can be either a closed beta, which is limited to a specific group of users, or an open beta, which is available for the general public to use.
Xbox 360 Battlefield 3 has hi-res texture pack on second disc
Optional install on Xbox 360 Battlefield 3 enhances graphics.
The Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 3 will let users stream higher resolution textures by installing content found on the game's second disc, DICE has revealed.
"There's a voluntary install on the 360," said Battlefield 3 producer Patrick Liu speaking to GamerZines yesterday.
"I think Rage did it as well, where you can install content to stream higher res textures.
"We're pushing that technology to the limit, and compared to our competitors, I would argue that we're the best looking game."
According to Liu, the game's single-player, co-op and multiplayer are also split up between the two discs, although he wouldn't confirm which modes are present on which disc.
It's not yet known whether the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 will also include the same hi-res textures on the Blu-ray disc.
We went hands-on with both versions of the game yesterday, and in terms of visuals, the Xbox 360 version certainly took the edge over the PS3 version.
Battlefield 3 launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on October 28th.
