Some changes to the portable radar.

Okay, this isn't another thread about removing it, I however think something has to be changed, either:

 

1. Modify its range, its waaay too large. Two of them could cover most of dome, it should be around the scramblers range imo.

 

2. If not doing the above, let the player that just walked on its range (when the enemy team is using them) know, a beep sound or something.

 

3. Make it last 45 seconds or even 30 on the ground and then wear off, like a sentry gun or IMS. Considering TDM matches (most played) last around 5-6 minutes and people die more than 4 times usually, this should be the fair thing to do.

 

4. Scan the map slower.

 

5. I also think Dead Silence Pro should be the perk to counter it (same with heartbeat sensors), as Assassin blocks out almost everything

 

 

I find it unfair I have to change my classes to assassin everytime because there's clans or even random players abusing it and camping. You just know for a fact when someone knows you're "there", they get a really good chance to kill you. Equipment that requires two perks (Assassin and Sitrep) to counter it is just too much, plus you can place the radar in some place a gun can't reach (areas off the map). I use the portable radar but I'm aware its not so "fair" to use it because people that don't run assassin will most likely die to anyone on the other team. Plus, you can't tell when the other team is using a portable radar, only when they seem to know you're there and there's no UAV in the sky; not to mention you get the "enemy UAV spotted" and you don't require anything special to get rid of it, stinger or weapon and you can take it down.

    Thats a good point about the range of the portable radar. Personally, Id like to see it removed from the game completely but even if its to be accepted, it does seem strange that its rafius is bigger then the scrambler. You'd think they'd be the other way around (a bit like Black Ops.)

     

    On the assassin point, it raises the question of is Assassin overpowered or is it more a case of it being a necessity because of other over powered stuff that they insist on putting in the game.

     

    In public matches, I nearly always run assassin purely because there is so much BS in this game that needs countering. I really do wish I didnt have to use and fully agree that assassin counters an incredible amount of things in the game but when it becomes a necessity?.... something is wrong.

     

    One thing I would say though, you dont need sit rep (and therefore, 2 perks) to counter portabel radar. Simply using assassin will do the job. Sit rep makes it easier but isnt actually required to counter it.

      I like how people complain about uavs, red dot chasers, and campers, and those are the same people that complain about other people complaining. I can't wait to see the first flamer here. Hypocrites, lolz.

        No worries, understood.

         

        Stealth is certainly a controversial subject in general anyway. In some quarters, the ghost/assassin aspect is a complete scapegoat/excuse for bad play and in others, is a ridiculous perk to have given how much it helps a player. Chicken and egg spring to mind.

         

        Regardless of all that though, the OP does have a point regarding the radius. It does seem unecessarilly large for what it provides and the scrambler seems the opposite. So, with no consideration to assassin whatsoever, it seems better overall if the radius were swapped. Its highly debateble that everything would be "fixed" if this was done but Id be surprised if anyone believed this wasnt a step in the right direction to get the game better.

    iv read alot of your posts gonzalo and i hve to say , you whine alot about everything ... if you dont want to deal with it then just play hardcore ... that solves that problem .. BUT im sure you will find something to cry about on that too .

      I like how your feedback helps all of us, I just point out what seems wrong, I'm not crying. Please point where I raged or my suggestions don't seem rational if you feel otherwise. On your advise, I don't like hardcore. A list of things that annoy me:

       

      1. Ignorant boys and girls on the mic calling me a mexican simply for speaking Spanish (nothing I can do about it)

       

      2. Campers (nothing I can do about it)

       

      3. MK14 and Type 95 hipfire/spam and the fact they kill way too fast, you can't even react if getting shot.

       

      4. Acog on sniper rifles and the fact the barrett can be spammed.

       

      That's my list, the portable radar isn't annoying, just thought it would be a FAIR thing to change. I use it myself and I must say its a great tool to get the whole other team with ease.

    No changes are needed. Use SitRep and you will know it is there.

      It can be thrown where its not seen in many maps such as dome and hardhat, plus you need assassin too. You're investing two perks on it and one of them doesn't work fully because of what I just said, you can throw it where no one can destroy it. Plus you need to either strafe it or use an EMP grenade and lets be fair, you draw everyone's attention doing so. In the end, it requires either silencer or EMP grenades, Assassin and Sitrep most of the time. If using sitrep and hardline and you try to get it, red dot chasers will get you.

       

      Plus, it seems it is OP then, I shouldn't have to change my perks because someone is using a portable radar. I don't change my classes when someone uses C4 or a claymore.

    I would remove it from the game completely. It slows down the game and forces people to use assassin.

     

    I would also replace marksman with scout pro from blops, sniping / getting kills long range should be about skill not lighting up people like Christmas trees, this perk also causes me to yet again run assassin.

     

    Change the support package completely. Lower killstreaks numbers by 1 / 2 / 3 or 4 depending on the killstreak ( 3 / 4 for higher support streaks), but make them like assault. When you die you die, you don't have a streak thus shouldn't get a point streak. No handouts please. Also make cuav work against assassin users, unless said players have the specialist bonus.

     

    There I don't feel the need to use assassin on most classes as it counters about half the things in the game atm. Also buff the pro part of blast shield.

        Yes I know. I do. I want to be able to use qdraw, blast shield and hardline while running around as much as assassin. I don't like being forced to use one perk and it's not fair that Assassin has an x load more advantages / counters than the other tier 2 perks.

          I agree. Modern Warfare 3 offered variety with additional Perks, different uses of Equipments, and what Attachments you may place on your weapon, but it's also limited due to features like the Portable Radar and Assassin - they affect the game, as well as delay it.

           

          Devices or features that allow players to know the position of enemies (excluding the UAV) should be removed. The device basically ‘plays for the player’ as they don’t have to rely on instinct or reflexes.

            I believe in another thread you also said how Assassin should work. The basic. It should counter uavs and pro no name tag. Simple. If they made support actually need streaks to get I would make the advanced uav show up assassin users (say 3x slower) as well.

              Definitely. My initial idea was converting Assassin into Cold-Blooded, but moving the "undetecable by thermal vision" to Blind Eye. I said it before, the Support Strike Package should be updated and improved. An idea: playing the objective, such as defusing the bomb, would count towards the player's Pointstreak if they're using the SSP?

    Yes, I also feel getting say 3 tags (denies included) in KC should grant a point streak as well, while staying alive.

    Leave it and the game the way it is. It's people like you that cry, b!t(h, and moan that has screwed up this game. Instead of the devs fixing the lag comp, hit detection, and host migration they are stuck catering to the cry babies who yell nerf this, buff that, take this perk out, and this weapon is over powered. Just deal with it like the rest of us.

    I think it would be perfectly OK if some of our suggestions would be taken into account, Assassin is the best tier two perk because there's many ways the enemy can know your location, the portable radar being one of them. Changing Assassin at this point is out of question, but the portable radar is just too much, in maps like dome I can throw it so that everyone is in my radius and therefore my team and I can get them easily without them knowing we're there. Something has to change.

     

    To these boys and girls saying all we do in the forums is complain and they are so annoyed by it, then don't visit the forums because I won't stop because you say so. Thanks.

    Meh...I play HC so I don't have to deal with it.  It does make a noise whenever someone is in range,...listen harder.  I can even find it useful in HC b/c of the noise it makes alerting me that someone ran within it's range.

     

    It's a little late in the game to be making threads like these though, if they were going to do something about it, they would've done something in the beginning, not 6 months after it's release.  I only used the PR to complete the challenges, never used it since and I don't play CORE so I never have to deal with teams spamming them.  Try some HC if you want to get away from this, unless you're one of the HUD spammers yourself....

    My Wishlist for Mw3:

    1) Stopping power is put back in the game ( Would decrease the # of assasin users)

    2) Remove the support package ( Killstreaks shouldnt be earned without an actual killstreak)

    3) Make uavs a higher killstreak ( Way too many spamming uavs)

    4) Reverse the Sitrep Pro patch ( Sitrep Pro has invaded every game mode with soundwhoring campers)

    5) Allow thermal to see assassin users ( Blind eye should have the undetected by thermal ability since the reason you wear it is to avoid thermal tracking killstreaks)

    6) Portable radars should be removed from the game ( Takes no skill to ads and kill a guy you knew was coming a mile away)

    7) Put the Stealth bomber back in the assault package ( Lethal killstreak in Support package.....Why Infinity Ward?)

    8) Make Dead Silence Pro nullify the Recon ability completly ( Recon is spammed in SnD way too much and takes no skill )

    9) Last thing is to orient this game more around gun skill like it was in COD 4 ( No more bullshit)

    Black ops has portable radar. Except it's called motion sensor. It does everything the portable radar does in mw3, nothin has changed. You didn't complain about it then but now you are... Hmmmm. Quit complaining about bs, stupid kid.

    ive just started using the portable radar for demo and think its great it the only problem is that i didnt know that assassin also counters that aswell i think the portable radar and heartbeat sensor attachment should pick up assassin users since its a personal thing and not for the whole team
