Pro Perks

Does anyone miss the Pro Perks and the challeges to get them ? Bops1 marathon pro 15 flags ....it also used to make people play games that they wouldn't  normally play.  in some cases in was a real mission to complete them.

Commando pro in mw2 was great, it used to cause so many arguments and swearing down the mic

I actualy do miss them, otherwise i never played CTF and it actualy made you want to play with friends to help you get the captures

Don't miss them.  They tend to make pro perks strong in this past and then people moan about them even if they took an age to unlock.

i loved chasing pro perks, it was always a nice touch, i was a bit gutted when i realised they watered everything down and broke them up in bo2

Pro perks made it unfair for newbies.

Most of the other weapons/perks and equipment were balanced enough that you could pick up create a class when you first unlock it, and make a viable class. Pro Perks gave the players an edge over those who had just started.

The only problem with this, is we were all there once. We all started out as "newbs". Also, it wasn't that great of an advantage. An edge, maybe, but then again, when you're new to the game you shouldn't be running around like Rambo anyway.

OMA + DC from MW2 say hi.

Pro Perk system in Black Ops was a grind in my opinion and I'm glad it's gone. Sure they made people play games like CTF but what you actually ended up with was a team of people trying to cap instead of rotating or playing defense. I'm also glad to see the end of Ghost Pro and most of the others can be easily put together (Ballistics CPU + Fast Hands = Scout Pro etc.). Camos seem to be keeping people busy enough with challenges for now.

I definitely miss the Pro Perks. Made things more challenging imo. Also the player you controlled just felt more complete. BO2 just leaves you feeling gimped. To add so many perks into attachments and only allow 3 attachments, just made things worse.

  • Re: Pro Perks

Yes I do miss it. Yea, you got an advantage, but you had to WORK to get it. Something else that I miss is having to use each gun attachment to unlock the next one, not just handing everything out for points and levels. These things, as tough as some were, made you a better player.

Yeah, I have good memories of the pro perks; capping flags for Marathon, and tossing back grenades for Flak Jacket pro so you could run through napalm strikes...good stuff.

But with BO2, attachments and equipment are the emphasis, and of course the "Quest for Diamonds" is what is driving me.

Don't worry, they'll probably all be back in the next Infinity Ward offering.

      Along with deathstreaks. [/3arc fanboy]

I do wonder what IW will do now since I'm given the impression that they don't really reflect on 3arc's work as much as 3arc do with IW's.  Pity really.

deathstreaks aren't that bad, if you got killed by dead mans hand then you should feel good since you're not the one dieing 6 times in a row.

and IW has always been the better company been this way since activision hired treyarch so they could make CoD fillers, the better devolpers won't take from the worst one lol.

        • Re: Pro Perks

People moaned about them enough, and Support package for that matter.  My only issue was that they were available in Barebones as that kinda defeated the point of the game type.

I prefer 3arc overall because of the campaigns but everyone's different.  COD4's my favourite multiplayer edition anyway.

            parnezzi

people moaned because they never thought that hey, im not dieing 4-6 times in a row like that noob, the support package was a good idea, but putting the stealth bomber and EMP in it was most likely a bad idea but if it was in the assault package it would hardly ever be used since EMP is annoying but can be easily ignored, and the stealth bomber could easily be avoided since the bombs it dropped where just low explosive radius clusterbombs.

Oh I agree.  Most of the complaints I've heard were people who played Domination for the most part.  How dare someone go 14-56 kill you with a SB when some 1337 player is one off a MOAB!1!!one  There was Specialist as a good counter to play against a team chaining EMPs if you usually resort to the Assault package.  If people were that upset at the Support package then Barebones has Domination in its playlist.  If the complainants don't try out Barebones then you know they rely on killstreaks for kills rather than their guns.  I thought the strike packages added variety.  When I ran Assault towards the end partied up I ran Reaper, Pave Low and Osprey.  Call in the Pave Low and then use the Reaper for ultimate carnage.  No need to camp for the 5th kill to start chaining with the Predator Missile.  I usually have a teammate who'd have his EMP by then so that gets called in before I use mine.

            ChronoZombie

Deathstreaks are fun and I think that it is important to offer those having a bad run a little respite before they throw their controllers in anger.  Support is absolutely the best way to encourage team playing.  I like killing and I like supporting my team and playing the objectives.  Support and specialist were among the best things ever to come to CoD and I was very sad to see them go.

Without support, the 200 points for capping a flag in domination is meaningless, since once I get that 200 points I have to go hide in a bunker to keep them instead of fighting my face off to keep enemies off my flag and to take theirs.  I have gotten 3 EMPs or escort airdrops in a single match of Domination multiple times, but in TDM using the same class I would be lucky to get an advanced UAV- support wasn't as OP, it just shut down the slyers using objective games as their personal shooting gallery, and that is exactly what we needed.  I don't care for TDM and my K/D ratio is meaningless to me- I die more than a lot of people, but I get my flag and my win, and I take the points.

If I have the most deaths, least kills and am #1 on the scorebord on the winning team, then you K/D is a joke.

If "leet slayers" think they are so great, then I agree that TDM and FFA should not have support, and that they should stay the hell out of every other game type.  I can't wait for the next game to have support again, and maybe even a system where I don't get shot around corners anymore.

I do miss them, but some of them were a pain.
