Why did MW3 get so much hate?

mikeboy30

can someone explain...

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    KSizzle

couldnt tell you.  i hated the deathstreaks thats about it.

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    ChestSplittah

How about asking where it is relevant. Instead of posting this crap here so it ends up in our beloved OT.

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    ghamorra

    Deathstreaks.

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    ab36

Bad connections (where people really started getting upset about lag compensation in Call of Duty), some ridiculous weapons like dual FMG9s, boring maps, support "streaks", deathstreaks, boring maps, weapons that killed fast, but to the point that it was about who saw the enemy first, not who had better accuracy. Did I mention boring maps?

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    JKG1989TFK

MW3 got  hate ? i loved an still go back to it for random fun.

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    DontRushOnDefense

Everything looked dull with a tint of gray.

The support killstreaks meant inveitable UAV's and other streaks without fear of death.

    There were deathstreaks.

Most of the guns were from MW2.

The DLC wasted content on Spec Ops and Face Off Maps (only up to 3v3).

I will say I loved some of the maps like Sanctuary, Overwatch, and Village. More variety of map size.

One of the great things about MW3 is when the host rage quits, the match stops and everyone gets their bonus and XP to that point. In BO2, all you get is PO'd and your kills when that happens!

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    Brutorious

Boring dull maps, Duel FMG's, Deathstreaks, Support streaks, not to mention it was the worst call of duty game in the last half decade. and then come the flop and broken promises of Call of duty elite, I know its separate, but with so many tie ins with MW3, it really soured my grapes for that. between everyone getting founder camo, to Elite members not getting content first. to paying so much money and not even being able to use the product for quite some time, and the thing is still broke. Elite is one of the worse things to ever happen to CoD!

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    Dush_Bag

Luvd Mw3..had great game types (kill confirmed, infected)

    luvd specialist

    incentives to objective players

incentive to players who shoot down stuff

luvd the shotguns (xcept the striker)

    hated deathstreaks

stealth bomber and emp in support (not sure what they were thinking)

mmm das about it from my perspective (my opinion only)

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    Restore_Hardcore

I still play it cause it's fun.

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?

Its so much better then BO2. After playing BO2, my clan is back to MW3. Becouse of the lagg issues and there are only french people in the matchmaking lobby. And french people have a serious lagg problem. You can not win.

MW3 is not perfect but much better in game play and lagg then Bo2.

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    TRU11

found the balance and level of play in that game much better then in this 1.

loved how custom classes could have each their own streak.

support class was the best addition ever cause i was was spamming EMPs and Bombers at least 3 to 4 times a game pissing alot of people off.

Even when it was you against a full party or clan you could at least put up a fight and play the objective hard.

Loved the cry of campers and kill whores after a bomber killed them or a EMP took out their high streak

death streaks where anoying but the revenge death streak was actually a very handy 1 for against people who where trying to hold down a certain point or camp as the game would give their position away.

MW3 also had much better game modes.

lagg wasent as anoying as it is now.

being host was down right awefull though.

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    PsnEvans020

there was a more exciting feel to mw3 in the respect that you could get the MOAB and get all sweaty palms as you were fast approaching it,overall though mw3 was just meh ,but bops2 isnt much better if at all

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    featherman84

The latency and the fact if you have a pretty good connection you get host for 80% of the games, and the crazy fact about that game is, the host gets a huge disadvantage.

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    CupcakeBandit

i don't hate it. i'm actually good at it. probably better than what i am in black ops 2. the match making was better and i was less piss at it compared to bo2. in mw3, i can geta moab without stress and my teammates were reliable. with bo2 i get placed with horrible team mates who will go negatives double digits

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    CallMeAsian

Everyone complained about the spawns, never had someone spawn right behind me. Black ops 2 has horrific spawn compared to MW3

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    sstang1

I have no idea why MW3 got so much hate - I loved it - its my second favorite Call of Duty after MW2.

I loved the realistic look to the maps - things in a war zone generally aren't all pretty and colorful - with the maps in Black Ops 2 I really feel like I'm playing a cartoon not a war game.

    - deathstreaks

    - boosting for MOABs

    - MOABs in general

    - MP7 laser beam

    - ACR laser beam

    - getting shot by invisible people (the lag was horrendous)

    - being put into lobbies with people from the other side of the world

shall I go on? yes? ok...

    - Sound EMP destroying ears and stereo speakers

    - DLC/ELITE was a complete mess (not the game, but it was the installment that got caught with it)

    - 1:1 stacking kill streaks

    - Support streaks (poorly implemented)

    - Stealth Bomber in support

I think I am about done.. oh wait, no I am not

    - Getting stuck on objects that are not there

    - Getting killed by the appearance of the Head Quarters

    - Too easy to level up (which is why they added an additional 10 prestiges)

    - Quickscoping was insane because of Quick Draw

Whether one likes a game or not is one thing; acknowledging serious flaws in the game is another.  It is fine to like a game while knowing the flaws are there... it is silly to ignore the flaws because one likes the game.

I loved BO1, but I would also be the 1st to say it was often unplayable.

    • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
      Err0r_6_Is_Back1_LOL

and for about 80 percent of what you listed is why i liked the game.. yeah there was some OP stuff, but it was more fun

      • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
        rlbl

yep and that is totally cool...

Nobody says one should or should not like a game. But just because someone likes something does not make it right.

I love KFC, poutine, fatty steaks and hot sauce.  Eating that everyday is wrong, and will kill me.

My point: Sometimes when deciding if something is right or wrong, we have to push our personal feelings about it aside to be able to see a flaw for what it is.

        • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
          Err0r_6_Is_Back1_LOL

i know i just think that people want the COD name to be a simulator, and i like IW beacuse they know they are an arcade shooter,a nd they embrass that.. Treyarch I feel are trying to be something they are not.. putting un predictable recoil on guns, nerfing guns that are suppose to be 2 shot kills and reducing damage, adding more bullet spread.. i understand why they did, but it makes the game less fun

I totally respect this.  Not sure I agree... but totally respect it.

I am not looking for a sim either, but the some of othe BS IW puts into the game I simply cannot get passed (but that of course is a personal opinion).

BO1 (for me) was the perfect mix... but the game played just terrible sometimes and did have its share of BS.

          • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
            ab36

I've typically gotten the impression that it was IW that's been trying to do things too far out of their reach, and that it's Treyarch that takes risks and knows it's an arcade shooter. They said so when they were talking about Nuketown's design, and how they try not to take themselves too seriously (which actually kind of gets to me because it shows with some of their maps... Grind???). IW just looks like they embrace an arcade role because their games have been so poorly balanced and OP lately that it plays like more of an arcade shooter than they meant it to lol

Call of Duty 4 was IW's last great Call of Duty (in my opinion). And how can you not like Black Ops 1?!?!?! lol I think those that like Call of Duty 4 tend to have Black Ops 1 as a second favorite. And those that like MW2 seemed to like MW3 lol

    • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
      Thembones

Don't forget being EMP. I mean when a friendly cause one in and your in a gunfight its annoying. Lets not forget the fact if someone gets a MOAB in lobby they are what you say the best player. No one plays the objective in MW3. I get called a F*G because I pick up tags in KC. The ability to add two attachments and still use sleight of hand. Assasian Pro and portable uav. Worst map aka Village.

I was about to type out a LONG list on why MW3 was terrible but you pretty did it for me.

Actually, I'm just going to add Akimbo FMG 9's/secondary machine pistols, poor map design and spawns, heartbeat sensor, portable radar, Blast Shield was terrible/underpowered, no objective stats on in-match leaderboard,

      To the OP,

This isn't to say everything about MW3 was terrible. I thought the pointstreak system was a step up for rewarding objective players but that's really the only feature I liked about MW3.

Despite BO2 issues, I still prefer it over MW3 anyday.

I deleted most of my MW3 complaint clips but I just wanted to keep this to remind on how I felt about MW3 in general:

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    FaNtasY_KiLLer11

I hated support streaks. Only reason people like them is because they suck and don't have to do much to earn them unlike assault streaks where you have to earn them. I did like the streaks in every class, I liked most of the assault rifles except the burst weapons sucked. The light machine guns are terrible compared to Black Ops 2. Shotguns suck unless you have damage or range, only one I like was striker. I liked specialist because it gave you an opportunity to get more perks. Most maps were terrible except for dome, hardhat, and most of the dlc maps. Dlc maps always seem better.

    • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
      gotsomestars

People didn't ONLY like them because they sucked. They had the right idea . They were just poorly implemented. I think they helped the people who actually ptfo. I don't think certain ones should have been in support. But overall it was a step in the right direction. And like someone said earlier , if you got stuck with a team full if people who didn't go for the OBJ, or just weren't that great, you could still keep up. I'd rather have support streaks than the blowout games that come with this title.

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    milo-iq

It was hard for IW to better MW2 i think, so ppl were left deflated, the Lag and maps that were difficult to learn didnt help. I also think MW3 pandered to run n gun style leading to MP7 being king, ACR was ok but couldn't compete. However Dome was/is one of the best COD maps ever and once the lag was sorted it was a consistent fun experience kills/streaks reward streaks were ok, support streaks were there for those like me who are crap but could contribute to the team effort. BLOPS 2 is simpler to pick up and do well so I think that's got a bit to do with it aswell

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?

    Here's why: http://youtu.be/IySyljx3nEM

There were plenty of things wrong with the game (or in other words things i didn't like but some might feel different), but most of the time it was the awful lag that made it one the worst if not the worst CoD ever.

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?

why ask for explanations go to the MW3 forum or play the game yourself

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?

mw3 is amazing to this bullshit at least if you shot at someone first you get the kill unlike black ops2 ..... But must thank treyarch for saving me £23 on map pack so far because of there incompetence to fix the game.... Bring on ghost....

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    Harney05

This game isn't getting any better, a lot of setups are becoming efficient, for example LMGs, Shotguns and Snipers can destroy SMGs and ARs if you put a good group of people together that know how to use them, it's impossible to beat someone with a sniper unless they somehow miss, same with shotgun you get close to someone or you are significantly away from someone with a KSG and it's almost like SMG's are a thing of the past, there's not much to say about snipers, you can lose any gun battle against one when the only mistake you've done is to simply take a quick look, LMG bullets can now go through anything, kill you right away and move significantly fast with 100+ bullets in the clip, does that sound balanced? And they wanna waste their time nerfing SMGs and ARs till they bleed and die because of spoiled kids, and I know this is about mw3 but in black ops 1 you wouldn't see that many people dominating with shotguns or LMGs, they shouldn't have allowed that to happen in this game, at least not with the ability to equip 4+ perks and get away with having good attachments, only thing they've done good in this game are zombies, league play and scorestreaks.

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    ab36

I already posted but to add to the thread... Really it was just the feel of MW3 that wasn't good... Every Call of Duty has a feel to it that's familiar to the series but distinct enough from the rest. Call of Duty 4, WaW, Black Ops 1, each had a great feel to them. Black Ops 2 is okay. MW3 though... Kind of makes me shudder thinking about it lol not too fond of it.

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    mdm123456789

The people who b!tch about MW3 complain about BLOPS 2 as well as all the other CoD games. A new CoD game comes out, then all of a sudden, gamers are professional game developers, weapon experts and IT geniuses. It's quite funny really and nothing to worry yourself about. These types of people have the need to make themselves feel or look important by criticizing EVERYTHING  a game developer brings to the table knowing damn well they themselves haven't brought nothing their own table since mommy and daddy threw them out into the world. If you like the game then continue to have fun with the 60 bucks you spent.

    • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
      rlbl

      Maybe true for some...

But I complained to no end about MW3 (so bad it was the 1st time I sold a COD game). I am not complaining about Bo2 (although I am not happy about some of the business practices).

I guess it depends on what people are complaining about...

      • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
        ab36

Yea, the dude clearly isn't paying attention. (the rest is in response to the person you replied to) The population that complains about every Call of Duty is not the same as the population that doesn't like MW3, which was basically the worst Call of Duty yet by consensus. Many of us don't like that game, it doesn't take a weapon expert or "IT genius" to figure out that it wasn't that good. I see what you're saying about the people who DO complain about everything because they're very irritating and should grow up, but don't get those people mixed up with the people that have legitimate gripes with MW3, because that was arguably the worst Call of Duty yet.

        • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
          mdm123456789

This is also for rlbl, You guys understood what I was saying and I'm not implying that comment towards people like you who just have a few gripes. I have a few of my own. I'm talking about the ones who, like I said, complain and criticize EVERY game and want to talk about what "they" would do or how the devs should fix their game.

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    brentcers37

Nobody said Assassin Pro? Wow... most OP perk ever.

  • Re: Why did MW3 get so much hate?
    hyper72

What i remember wow,mw2,blop1,mw3 I've got good memories of great battles and fun yeah few glitches here and there but no problems.........But sadly ended on the release of FlopOps2 its just a wild frustrating SMG spray and pray luck based mess with no answer to when they are going to fix the problems so obvious it makes me sick... Treyarch seem to have firmly put on the blinkers and continue to churn out more garbage DLC maps WHY? Pffffft.
