Strike Package Tweaks

Mojammer

I've had some ideas on how to make the strike packages more balanced/fair/better/whatever, and I'm curious what other people think about this.  I'm not married to any of these ideas, just some possibilities:

1.

I like the specialist package and I hope it comes back in future games, but I think getting all of the perks after 7/8 kills is OP, and it should probably be more like 2, 4, 6, and then 9 or 10 kills for the all perks and all proficiencies bonus.

2.

Maybe there should be a "Support" perk, and if you equip that perk you can use support pointstreak rewards without them resetting after death.  I'm not saying you can get any of the rewards, only the non-killing rewards (UAV, CUAV, SAM, Recon drone, Adv UAV, EMP) but they require twice as many points with the support perk as they do as normal pointstreak rewards.

For example:

I use three normal perks, and have a UAV reward at 3 points, a reaper at 9, and an EMP at 15 points, but they all reset if I die.

OR

I use 2 normal perks and the "Support" perk, and I can have a UAV at 6 points, a SAM turret at 16 or so points, and an EMP at 30 or so points, but the points don't reset after a death.  That way the support guys only get 2 perks to balance out their non-death-resetting rewards.  And they really have to hustle to get the rewards.  30 points is a lot to get in a game for an average or below average player.

A side note, I really think 18 non-resetting points for a 1 minute EMP is not nearly enough.  Should be at least 25, if not more.

Specialist is not OP.  You actually have to have skill to get kills and your killstreaks do not get kills for you.  So no, keep Specialist as is.

Support pointstreaks don't reset after your death.  Are you saying knix the support strike package altogether and just make it a perk?  If so, I don't agree.  If not, I don't really know what you mean by this.

I disagree with both. That would make both specialist and support useless.

Specialist is fine as is....hitting a 7/8 even with the 3 extra perks is tricky...even then the specialist bonus really just eliminates cheap ways for you to die and gives you a slight edge in combat. When you consider that an 8 in assault can be a reaper, AH6, or strafe run, I think it's pretty balanced.

Support is balanced as is...no need to make people waste a perk for it. Merging support and assault is just terrible. 18 is good for an EMP. You have to realise that kills from support don't even chain to the next killstreak. 18 is a lot of points without killstreaks in most game modes. 25 would just encourage people to be reckless.

edit: Let me make the argument that assault is overpowered. You can launch to your next killstreak, so to get a reaper/AH6/strafe run all you need is 4 kills/ some assists with hardline pro, a well timed pred, and then staying alive while your chopper gets you two kills.

Yea i do agree but the support caters too bad players sometimes

It caters to two types of players.

    1. The player that just wants to play the objective.  K/D isn't their goal.  They just want to win the match so they are going to charge in and try to plant the bomb or capture the flag at all costs.  This helps these types of players out.

    2.  The player that is new to the game and needs some help.  It's an easy package to use to help the player feel they are helping the team out even if they aren't the greatest.

Does support cater to new people?  Of course.  But it also caters to objective-based players.  I like the setup, though I do wish they'd take EMP out.  Lil Johnnie is 17-39 and I'm 18-0.  I call in the Osprey and he takes out my hard earned killstreak with an EMP.  That doesn't seem fair.

And doesn't take in acount that other players in your team that are assaults streaks mights have other things out such as an overwatch or assault drone. The EMP is over power in my opinion because it lets players who are doing poorly render their enemies assault package useless.

Please explain how getting 18 points in a single match without chaining killstreaks is doing poorly.

I was talking about lil Johnnie who was 17-39.
