Terrible Night of Gameplay

TanglingPilot80

Granted I'm a somewhat new player, but going into last night I had a solid 1.7k/d 55% w/l. Coming out of last night... 1.3k/d 44%w/l after only 9 MATCHES! Every game I felt like I was a half second behind everyone and couldn't do a damn thing about it. At first I was running Hardline, so I atributed it to the enemy's spotting me with UAVs (even though I was diligently shooting almost all of them down) so I switched to Assassin with zero luck.

I couldn't get anything going, coudn't get a streak past 5 and my teammates were awful. Also I should note that I started using the G36C (wow this gun has some recoil and kick). I'm only level 47 right now, is there a better gun I should be using?

First off, whenever I hear a semi-new player has a 1.7 K/D, I am instantly jealous. I am a semi-new player also and my K/D is embarrassingly bad. However, it's not just you - I played last night and my connection was bad enough for me to shut the game off, which previously I hadn't done before.

Thank you! At first I only used the SCAR and leveled it up to high 20-something. The silencer / red-dot combo really seemed to work. I'm a slow-play type of guy moving around the outside of the map, never in the middle and I have really low killstreads. :/ 3, 4, 5.

Just because you use low killstreak counts doesn't mean your bad. I use low ones ive played every call of duty from day one. By using low killstreaks, you will get more of them over the course of several games helping boost your xp intake. At least that's the way I look at it.

Sure, you might losse out on getting that AC130 once in a while but I prefer to gun kills anyway.

work on instincts: where will the enemy spawn, jump shots, drop shots, and pre shooting. i've played with bad ppl (really bad with less than 1 K/Ds), but managed to win the match by myself.

im a rusher type though. i dont wait around, and any corneres i see i always jump into and aim. i recommed trying to use SMGs such as PP90, P90 and MP7.

    fyi, my KD = 2.2

If I'm getting screwed over by lag of some kind, I dashboard. The game is so rediculously broken there's just no point of enduring it.

I used the G36C a TON in my first prestige. Then toward the end I started using the ACR SCAR and MP7. Tried going back to the G36C recently and wow that thing is tough to use. Spoiled by those other guns.

Try different combos of different weapons. What were the attachments for your G36? The holographic sight is best for this weapon. The kick is actually beneficial since it goes straight up. Which makes it headshot-prone.

Try the L86, its a good LMG with a fast reload.

The lmgs really shine at long range, you can use it like a sniper

  • Re: Terrible Night of Gameplay

my go to gun whenever im having a bad game is the PP90 with ext mags and rapid fire. really helps a lot.

  • Re: Terrible Night of Gameplay

The different weapon/perk combinations are helpful.  I switch those up and it tends to help.  If that doesn't help, and you're just not having fun, try switching game types.  I play mainly KC, but sometimes jump into infected, S&D, Domination, etc...  Sometimes practicing those other types can make you more well-rounded in your preferred game type.  If not, at least it will make you want to play your normal game more because the other pissed you off too badly.

If those don't work, I'll even throw different games in for a while.  Taking a small break can make MW3 more fun when you return to it.

I think I had maybe 6 hours of TDM and I tried switching it up to Domination. SUCH a bad idea. There were SO many snipers camping near flags (sniping I guess, not corner camping. Although, on Mission they were always in the same spot next to the crate or in the bushes next to the bridge), no one on my team seemed to be capping flags and everyone was kill-whoring. Only my first 2 matches were good as there was one guy who believe it or not, was pleasant to talk to over the mic. We were sharing where they were spawning, if we got killed where and by how many, "ok I'm going for A" and I'd meet him there to cap the flag. I actually got an AC-130 from a care package and was kind enough to tell him where all the red squares were so he knew where everyone was on the ground. I'd send hell down on A and tell him OK that's clear, move in and cap. It was awesome. Then we lost connection to the host and for the last 7 games no one spoke and no one capped. It was awful.

Domination is usually tougher and lot faster paced depending on the maps. I like it better than regular TDM because you run into many more 'clean' players. The same is true in Ground War (mostly). I notice significantly less campers, akimbo secondary's, quick scoping, final stand/dead man's hand/martyrdom, noob tubes, shotguns, rocker launchers, etc. That kind of crap just infests regular TDM lobbies. The amount of BS you encounter in TDM is riduculous. Scrubs everywhere exploiting everything people hate about the game.

I think after a while of playing you'll just get used to the good and bad days.  Or perhaps it's just a piece of your soul dying as you give up on trying to figure out the connection thing.  Because sadly, I think it'll have nothing to do with your skill and more to do with whether the lag is against, or in your favor.

  • Re: Terrible Night of Gameplay

I like the PP90 with red dot and range proficiency. However if you're a second behind like I am 80% of the time, it doesn't matter which gun you use honestly, you're still screwed. The best way I've found to combat lag comp is to equip a Type 95 with rapid fire and red dot, Assassin to be sure they don't know where you are, with Blind Eye (I just can't stand my streaks being stopped by random Predator missiles) and Stalker. Run the specialist killstreak to get the good perks. Use Stalker to take every corner, hallway, potential enemy encounter with your sights up and ready. If they're fairly close, the Type will kill with one burst and the rapid fire will let you burst much quicker if you miss or they're just far away. That's the best way I've found to succeed when being behind so far.

i had the worse night on cod last night aswell im not a new player so i havent got an excuse and im pretty much allways top of most games i played. last night was unplayable i couldnt get a kill after putting about 7 bullets with hit markers into somebody wich usually takes 3. every single game i would come out of a game with less than 10 kills and about 20 deaths where i ususally come out 30- 9 even brought out the sniper and was getting hit markers but no kills. was the worst cod night i ever had. i even stoped to reset my router and modem had 100 meg 10 meg upload 9 ms ping and 0 packet loss booted up cod and was excactly the same. i had to stop myself from putting the controller through my tv.

It's just not worth it. I put up with crap from work all day, the last thing I want to do is come home and deal with more crap from this broken game. So, I haven't touched it in a few weeks now. Battlefield 3 and Gotham City Imposters (fun as hell) are treating me well. People die when I shoot them. They don't see me a second before I see them. Maybe you should branch out, see that other games offer a more enjoyable experience.
