I am fairly confident there will be no elite for the pc gamers on Black Op's 2.
The whole reason behind pc players not getting Elite for MW3 as stated by Activision on there support page, is because "the pc platform is a open platform" meaning they cannot secure it from cheaters.
The reason they cannot secure the game from the low life scum who like to use cheats is because they are using VAC (Valve Anti Cheat), as it barely detect's cheaters or ban's them although recently it has banned some but not many.
I also think the reason they are using VAC is because of the issues between Punkbuster and Steam as it can cause issues when you enable the Steam overlay option for PB protected games, which happend with Battlefield Bad Company 2 as that used Steam and PB but in order to play the game if you bought it on Steam like I did was to disable the Steam overlay, until Dice, Valve and Evenbalance worked out the issue and fixed it.
Due to the lack of support from the developers of Call Of Duty and there lack of abillity to fix problems in the game, I can say they would not be willing to fix the issue between the game engine, PB and Steam so therefore we cannot have a game that does not have cheaters on it.
Due to the lack of a real anti cheat system, Elite will never work how it is intended on the pc because even if Black Op's 2 has ranked dedicated servers which up to now, has not been confirmed or denied you will still have admins who will kick and ban you for being better than them but they will just say you are cheating.
For the competitions on Elite that the console gamers get now, on the pc we would never see them because of the simple fact that NO ONE can be confident that the servers, will be cheat free meaning all it will take is for say 8 out of the 12 players to quit the server saying someone is cheating, and all because they were better than the other players meaning that competition is over.
I would have liked to see the Elite feature come over to the PC for my own reason's but, I am 99% confident we will not see it anytime soon atleast not until they sort out the anti cheat system.
I suspect we wont see anything like 'Elite' until Windows 8 becomes established, and the lines between PC and XBox get blurred.
I'm hoping this will be a good thing - only from the point of view that PC games may just get the same love and attention as XBox games - but I suspect we will have to pay for it, just as XBox gamers have to pay for it.
If it is the only way to get a better experience, then I suppose those who want it will have to fork out for an XBox live subscription for their PC - but it's not all that expensive anyway.
I've worked in IT since Windows 98. Always got the newest OS and played around with it and eventually migrated to it (Vista x64 was not ALL that bad once fully tweaked). Windows 8 is the first OS I will never buy and will never use and never migrate to. It's that bad. I'll wait for the Dev team that brought us Windows2K, Windows XP and Windows 7 to fix it... with Windows 9.
I don't need an OS trying to turn my PC into a tablet. No thanks. They can keep that crap on a stick.
Hmm, I have a friend trying out the Windows 8 and it is pretty buggy according to him. Maybe because it is still in the early stages?
And are you saying that Windows 8 is being made for and to accommodate all the new tablets? Kinda like how the Ivy Bridge is being made to accomendate laptops.
Is this the beginning of the end of Personal Computers the market for them?
Their "Metro" interface is what M$ would really like everyone to move to. It can be disabled, but a lot of features are hidden. I understand why they feel the need to do this as Apple's OS is so pretty, but this is really the wrong direction.
And this is the same Dev team that brought us Vista and Windows ME... so yeah, even when it's released it's going to be buggy (buggier than usual I should say).
Wow, thank you for the sad news . Very unfortunate for me because I love PC gaming and my computer is quite beasty-er than any of the consles out at the moment. I guess I had it comming but needed some clarification.
I guess I could get my $5 back and decide on getting a PlayStation3 before it comes out(if not I don't see why not getting them at the same time). I would favor a PlayStation3 over an Xbox360 because of its versatility, better graphics quality, and most of all persuade me otherwise please do. Anyone supports me with my pre-decision may also state other wise. Anyone esle Please do state your oppinion.
Thank you for the rest of you with your imput.♥
And yeah I'll be waiting on the day that I do not have a .5 kill to death ratio due to hackers...
You should have read this in related news about CoD from Steam before buying another Activision product. It is clear like the water that they don't care about PC gamers yet. So, I will be waiting like others until the needed changes come to the PC (platform).
Do Not buy BOPS2!!!
