Is Assassin boring yet?

HEREIAMNOW

I'm tired of trying to preserve my KD, shooting unsuspecting mini map watchers, being stealthy in general.

I've played 90% of game with assassin and silencers.

Though the tier set up is kinda whack, I see the joy in trying new setups, and being more observant of my surrounds as I cant move as freely without it.

Assassin has become a huge crutch.

But to compensate my lack of stealth I picked up Recon and Sitrep, I think these perks negate the almighty power of assassin.  I dont have sitrep pro yet by the way and I have the TV turned down so I am not specifically listening for anything.

I also have selected Recon Pro to help out my team and makes me top scorer in the room even with lack up kills (Very Fun Killstreak By The Way).

What are your thoughts?

I usually never use Assassin because I play FFA 90% of the time I'm playing mw3, but since you mentioned Recon Pro I will say that Recon combined with Hardline  Pro is Definitley a great strategy to use in team based gametypes. Not only for yourself with the benefits of Hardline, but mostly for the benefit towards your team with Recon and by painting enemies on the mini-map.

That has become my 2nd tier perk.  Its fun to get those assisst kills.  Do you know if Recon Drone tag assist count towards your kill streak?  I haven't paid attention because my next kill streak is escort airdrop.  But I have been getting them way earlier in the game (TDM) at the mid game mark, which is faster than my normal run and gun play towards the last 5 kills.

Recon drone is a tagged assist and doesnt count

I always find it better when not playing with assassin but within most games there's 5 uav's within 30 seconds which makes me switch up depending on the map

I'm of the mindset that uav has become the biggest crutch

I only using Assassin due to the number of portable radars appearing in matches.

I was an avid user of Hardline Pro & Assault Pointstreaks but over the last few months, I've been coming across players who sit right next their portable radars waiting for players like me who isn't using Assassin.

So I have been using Assassin & so at least it gives me a chance to flank more without having to be constant red dot on the mini-map.

I just feel I'm at a disadvantage when I'm not using Assassin. Portable Radars in general just annoy the crap out of me so I've decided to counter it with a perk players seem to despise but not realize they are the reason why Assassin is such a popular perk.

I don't find myself using Assassin boring, it's just a way to survive without becoming the constant red dot the community seems to fancy.

I guess this is where sit rep comes on to play.  I can see them and I know I show up.  Figure they are about to approach me and I am already ADS, trigger finger ready.

I use Assassin & Sitrep on most of my classes.

I don't really play other game styles except TDM, but what is the purpose of Assassin and Sitrep vs Assassin and Stalker?

I've been combining Assassin & Sitrep Pro due to locating Portable Radars & knowing that someone is waiting for me, I flank around rather than move towards the portable radar's location, Also, another benefit Sitrep Pro is hearing footsteps louder.

Stalker is a useful perk but you lose the "soundwhore" ability. A majority of Stalker Pro's ability including running past IMS, Bouncing Betties, Claymores etc can be done with Sitrep but just requires you to take them which isn't hard. Only good thing about Stalker is strafing faster while ADS'ing. Rest of it is exactly the same as Sitrep but doesn't require you to take the equipment before pressing forward

I enjoy Assassin, and until the number of UAVs, HBS, and Portable Radars is reduced, I continue to use it. I just don't see the other perks being worth being seen no matter where you go on the map. Sometimes I use them anyway if I need to Pro certain ones, but my primary go-to class is Assassin-based.

Not to mention, perks like Blast Shield and Overkill aren't worth using, Hardline is only useful if you're running an Assault Set-up, and Quick-Draw typically isn't overly useful for much except quick equipment placement.

Maybe if the other perks were worth using, that would be different.

That's how I feel about both those perks.

Blast Shield doesn't have to same effectiveness that Flak Jacket & Tact Mask Pro had in Black Ops especially for objective gametypes.

Overkill isn't much use when you have already have effective secondary machine pistols.

That's pretty much what it is. I've said since the get-go that if BSP was like Tac Mask + Flak Jacket from Black Ops, that'd probably be my most used perk. But it's effects on explosives and flashbangs is just minimal at best.

And with Overkill.. I've just never really found it overly useful, not when I can just walk over someone I killed and pick up their (usually) ACR and be good to go for another half-dozen kills at least.

  • Re: Is Assassin boring yet?

Play a game of domination or tdm put sitrep on and you will just see motion sensors everywhere then add the spy plane spam lol and your a target without assasian.

If a whole team of hardline non portable radars in silenced guns.

When against assasian silenced guns with portable radars and uavs up lol who's gonna win.

Personally I would still pick assasian even if all the perks were in 1 tier and I could only have 1

Ya I could understand using assassin in that situation.  Would recon help that out?  I find using that helps me move around more freely.  Especially when you are playing an objective game.  If everything was in tier 1 though, I dont know if I would pick assassin, maybe stalker or marathon because I like being quick.

      • Re: Is Assassin boring yet?

You mean extreme cond? Stalker is great on assault rifles for straffing but my view is if I'm stood in a motion sensor with a spy plane up or advanced uav straffing won't help me.

Recon is ok but you only have 2 flash bangs so you spawn you launch them you light up 2 guys your team kills them and your back to square 1

        Recon is good in snd

Recon pro is handy sometimes you spray the enemy and jump behind cover now you can flank him.

And usually if I die I land 1 bullet on the enemy so he's lit up and usually will die very quickly.

Stealth and information and powerful tools

I have had good games with hardline on but usually I do crap without assasin.

I might aswell just stand at b flag and tell them I'm staying at b flag all game come and get me. If your being seen your very vulnerable

I have 1 class with assassin out of 10.  It also has Sitrep Pro.  Whenever I get killed by some little ***** hiding in a corner by their portable radar or there's just constant UAV's up, I have to switch to that class.  Unfortunately that happens way too often anymore.

  • Re: Is Assassin boring yet?

I use assassin in games of TDM and I generally avoid it in other gametypes because other perks are more useful outside of TDM. In TDM, the constant UAV's, portable baby monitors, heartbeat sensors, etc force me to use it. I would prefer not to need it, but when I'm 10-0 and I hear "Advanced UAV spotted" it irritates me, especially after checking the scoreboard and seeing that my teammates have a combined 3 kills and 15 deaths. There simply aren't enough stingers to take out all the UAV's that my team gifts to the enemy players. Counter UAV doesn't work anymore either, ironically, because of Assassin itself( I would actually support taking counter UAV immunity off of Assassin. This is the only assassin nerf that I would ever be ok with).

Teammates are also the reason I use trophy system on a lot of my classes. I can at least avoid the predator missile bombardment that seems to go on every single game. In the past, I considered myself a predator magnet because of all the times I would get hit while on a killstreak.

I actually don't use assassin that much anymore. I either run a shotgun/SMG with overkill (can't beat that speed and an amazing short to mid range attack) with sleight of hand pro or QuickDraw.

Sadly a lot of the fun that I had is gone when they changed sitrep pro back to hearing everything. Now in games 2-3 out of the opposing team is camping in a corner with sitrep pro on. Meaning I have to crouch around the whole map or be lucky with getting a bad camper.

I now unfortunately run sitrep on most of my classes just to even things up.

with every game now being a spy plane and portable radar spam fest now, its becoming necessary to use it, camping is getting worse and tbh its getting boring finding people just sitting in a corner all the time.

  • Re: Is Assassin boring yet?

I get more kills when i don't use assassin. Reason is, enemies usually approach you head on and when i don't use assassin more enemies tackle me head on. Sure the odd one sneaks up on you from behind, in general you get a more action paced game if you run without it.
