Thanks so much for posting and providing links. We're very sorry to hear you are having an issue with launching the game. I didn't see a current issue listed in any of the links. It appears one issue happened back in March and the other in July.
Although you have listed the steps you have tried, have you also verified game cache Verify Game Cache Files (GCF) - How To's - Knowledge Base - Steam Support
Also, can you please provide more details on the specific issue you are having? Indicate any error message you have received and state what happens when you launch the game. The more details you provide, will help us greatly with troubleshooting your issue.
it is the same issue in the 2nd link,
when you click the game launcher nothing happens
the game syncs with the steam cloud then nothing.
if DirectX is up to date you receive no error
i have verified the cache files
i have also re-installed the game
will give you and idea that the issue is still current
yesterday 1 person said it was compatible and 8 said it was not
There is so much **** wrong with Windows 8. Not with the version itself but it's compatibility settings. Everything that you have been used to doing on Windows 7 is now tarnished thanks to Windows 8. I personally am frustrated that I can't play some games or things. My only advice is to download the .dll's from the dll file fixer site but download it as a file and then unzip it and transfer the .dll to the game folder and hopefully that get's it working.
