i think this thead was derailled long before our posts. im not arguing or agreeing, im just saying that to me, and everything ive been taught, guns are more of a tool than a weapon. any tool is dangerous in the hands of someone willing to abuse it or ignorant of its power. this includes military. my stepdad is a captain in the army, military police/infantry in vietnam. a lot of our soilders did/do screwed up things too, so being military doesn't matter.
lots of nam vets also think we lost that war because the m16 is so weak compared to an ak. a infantry friend of mine shot a guy in iraq 8 times before he stopped running, because the m16 is less powerful/lethal. yet they are both "assault rifles". during vietnam a lot of soilders said theyd rather have an ak.
its just much different in the states i guess. guns arent looked at the same way by some of our own people and around the world. yeah, theres psycho gun nuts but many, many more normal, well rounded people who hunt but would never hurt a human being. when people stab eachother we dont outlaw butcher knives right? because its useful and when in competent hands its merely a tool, the lunatics are who turn it into a weapon. done with my rant, just had to get that off my chest.
