Hello John4523a. Have you played against the bots on combat training. That's usually the best place to polish your skills up without getting your a*s kicked to much prior to playing muiltiplayer. Try playing an objective game mode in core such as domination and play the objective for extra points to your scorestreaks Your perks and gun you use depends on the way you play. Try starting with Flak jacket / fast hands or tracker / tac mask . I have tried to pick perks unlocked at a low level. I do prefer scavenger for perk 2 or engineer for perk 3 but they are unlocked later on. Guns you may prefer to use a AR such as KN44 which is a dependable gun and unlocked at the start. And equip a launcher as a secondary to earn extra points taking streaks down. lethals equip grenades or C4 when you unlock it to set up booby traps. tacticals I would use EMP as soon as its unlocked for earning extra points. Keep your scorestreaks low to start with / UAV / Counter UAV the 3rd one is up to you i wouldn't risk a care package as you may get it stolen if you are      getting  to grips with the game. The dart is a useful streak once you learn how to use it and can earn you 3 to 4 kills or take other streaks down. Playstyle, just take your time, be map aware and check your HUD. It is easy to get flanked if you play with your head up your a*s. You will have good matches when you play like a god and then in the next match play like you have no thumbs sh*t happens its just the way of the game suck it up and don't get to stressed. I wouldn't worry about which specialist to use they all have there pros and cons see which one suits you. These are just my opinions i am by no means a cod god far from it but i play to win and if i cant i make it as hard as i can for the other team by taking thier streaks down or just  being a pain in the a*s try not to quit. There are some good dudes on the forum who will offer beter  advice. Happy hunting mate.

The game i just left i emptied a full clip into another player and he didn't die. this is pretty much the norm. the game is glitchy and filled with hackers who know how to exploit it.

Quit playing. It is a horrible game. I gave it more of a chance than i did with ghosts and advanced warfare, but this game is garbage. I am letting my son trade it in on Dark Souls 3 later on today. I won't even consider buying a COD game again until they get out of the future crap. Quit ripping off halo and destiny.

Quit playing and trade in/sell your game. Call of Duty used to be a very good multiplayer game to have a good time on. As each new game comes out, it gets worse and worse. Nothing registers, bullets and beat downs go through players, and not to mention the crappy new installment of the black market and sucking more money out of stupid people. The taunts and guestures are a joke, they look horrible and they chose immature and tacky dances.

Oh and may I mention the detrimental amount of lag issues? Invites don't ever work and game chat hardly works. How is it that as the years go on, the technology of gaming decreases?

I've been a CoD fan since CoD4. I switched from Halo because Halo turned into more and more of a horrible game. Nothing will change my mind from never purchasing another CoD in the future.

This game sucks and it doesn't get any better.

John, don't listen to the haters on here because every game has them.  For starters, read this thread:

https://community.callofduty.com/t5/Call-of-Duty-Advanced-Warfare/Want-to-get-better-at-Call-of-Duty...

It was posted in the Advanced Warfare forums over a year ago but it is is good advice for all COD titles.  Also, check out videos from "XclusiveAce" on YouTube; he mostly deals with tips and helpful info instead of just showing you how to run around like a chicken with your head cut off.

Step 1.  Abandon Core gamemode and play only Hardcore.  The inconsistencies in Core mode will get you so frustrated you'll want to quit before getting any better.   In Hardcore most kills are one shot kills.  Unlike Core where you can unload an entire clip with your hit indicator flashing like you just hit the jackpot on a Vegas slot, only to die from one shot with their pistol.

Step 2. Play bots!  Spend about 10 - 20 minutes a day playing bots.  But don't just play bots, arm yourself with a single fire weapon.  This forces you to aim then fire.  A lot of times you'll start firing before you aim, and the recoil throws off your aim.  It also slows down your aim considerably if you're ADS.  Learn to aim and then fire.

Step 3.  Hardcore Free for All.  Play this like you're trying out for the COD Free for All Olympics team.  The reason for this is  1) no one else is depending on you for any objectives, and 2) you spawn randomly which gives you a better understanding of the maps.  This will teach you about map layouts and map flow, which is a huge game changer.   This also allows you to mess around with different classes, weapons, and perks without messing up teammates.

Step 4. Hardcore TDM and Domination.  Once you feel comfortable with the maps and classes, start playing team games.  Be careful because you can (and will) kill your teammates.  Friendly fire is on while in Hardcore mode.

This isn't necessary, but start trying to finish accomplishments.  Set goals and your gaming experience will be much more fun.  For example, say your first goal is to unlock Gold Camo for all your assault rifles.  Then your next goal is to unlock diamond, then specialist gear, etc.  Good luck and happy gaming!

Yes, normal Core mode is 100 health, Hardcore is 30.  You can adjust the health settings for yourself and them.

Also, work mostly on memorizing the maps and gun mechanics.  I suggest playing with "recruit" bots, and lots of them to force yourself to aim, shoot, repeat.  Stay away from the higher difficulty for now so you can focus on mechanics.  When playing online, remember that most players have had nearly 5 months of playing to know every square inch of the maps.  Don't get discouraged and keep plugging away because in November when the new COD game comes out you will be on a level playing field like the rest of us.

The mini map is your best friend. Look up some videos on map awareness and spawns for the maps. But a basic tip is to look at your allies. Areas where there are no teammates there are enemies so you can expect them. Also people flank like crazy in this game. There are three lanes in every map. Stick to the flank routes if you're a new player the middle lane is suicide unless you know what you are doing, and even then you can get completely destroyed sometimes.  Learn the power positions and head glitches. There are plenty of youtube tutorials on this, just search  for them. if there are no teammates in a section of a map then check those two places for enemies and you more often than not you can shoot one or two in the back. Until you get more skill stay away from smgs and snipers and stick to assault rifles and lmgs, but mainly ARs. The ICR-1 and the HVK-30 are absolute god weapons. I know I might get some flack for this but use thermal sights on guns once you have them unlocked, it will help you with your target acquisition. I will also second the person who said to practice with bots. Go into custom matches and set up a match against about six bots set the difficulty to recruit, set the game mode to free for all and the kill limit at 100 and run around the outside of the map at a only coming out of sprint to kill. This helps with your reation time. For headshots run around nuketown with no bots and practice your accuracy on the statues but make sure you are moving fast and not taking a lot of time to aim. although they are standing still it will give you a platform to move up from. Then move up to bots. Look on youtube, there are all sorts of drills for accuracy, reaction time, map awareness and much more.

Good luck, hope I was of some help.

P.S Ignore the angry trolls. They always hate every call of duty that isn't black ops 1 or 2 or Modern warfare 2. It can get frustrating sometimes, but keep with it and learn from every time you die and ask yourself what you did wrong and what the enemy player did right. But sometimes it's just luck that gets you or the enemy the kill and that's just how the game is sometimes. But learn to recognize the difference between the truly lucky kills and ones that you want to think are luck. Sometimes they just outsmart you.
