Black Ops 2 Too Futuristic For 2025...

Black Ops II General Discussion

This is the umpteenth thread with someone scaremongering just because the tech looks too "new", it's a two minute trailer for Gods sake, did it not occur to you that they use trailers to show oof the INNOVATOINS etc, and not to show off the majority of the game?

FYI many if not ALL of the tech in the trailer is in testing or production now, just because the military isn't using it right now doesn't mean they won't use it; the M16 was introduced within only a few years of it being given to G.Is in Vietnam, nothing is set in stone.

Now, onto the "future tech";

The quadrotor is being mass produced as a toy right now, wouldn't take much to redesign it into a military item.

The rifle you see is an XM8; a weapon that was designed back in 2005 i believe, again, wouldn't take much to bring it out of the prototype stage

The pistol is a "Kriss Kard", it may look futuristic but was actually made in 2008, again, not very new.

Even the quad tank has been made to some degree, just not militarised. Here are some pics so you know I'm not joking

Pistol: http://www.examiner.com/sites/default/files/styles/image_full_width_scaled/hash/1336085024_kriss_kar...

I will end by saying that; we the community asked for innovation and change, and Treyarch being Treyach obliged by giving us a setting and equipment that we have never seen before, yet people like you OP get upset because it looks out of your comfort zone, see where I'm going here?

I know that the quad rotor is used as a toy and will probably see some sort of military service very soon, I also know that the XM8 is a real gun same with the KARD. I was mainly bashing the mechs, I never see them entering military service myself to replace tanks. However I think they maybe used as a logical role getting over tough terrain. I just want to see more things that we use today because they will still be used in 20+ years but upgraded, The only thing I saw in the trailer that I recognised was the XM8 and the M249 other than that nothing... Its like someone in the 80's saying that by 2000's we will be using totally different weapons and equipment for the miltary, when we still use much the same things just upgraded.

That is exactly what I mean; you state that you don't recognise stuff, therefor you don't like the look of the game, that shouldn't be the way to look at it.

Treyarch are trying to do something new, sure, but there will still be bullet shooting guns, and it will still be mostly soldier vs soldier, it's just that drones will feature a bit more at times.

MP will still definitely be soldier vs soldier, with drones as streaks, aka like MW3.

As I said, we have only seen two minutes of a tiny fraction of what the game has to offer; give it a chance, I have every faith in Treyarch that they will innovate yet keep it true to CoDs playstyle.

The US Navy is set to have Rail-Guns mounted on a few ships by 2025. Any other silly assumptions OP?

Rail-Guns are EPIC but i thought they still hadn't overcome the barrels melting to make any use of them, to the OP the AN-94 is in there but in RL that isn't very common due to unit cost and specialised training required.

I'm sure people from 1999 felt the same way about drones being used in the 2000's.....

Isn't this another repeat thread that doesn't belong in the OT?

Its fine what their doing. Its TreyArchs COD game they can do whatever they want. I think because of Black Ops success, Activision has confidence in Treyarch to go this far.
