Dual Wielded Pistols Are NOT A Good Idea

Black Ops forum

If we are going through all of the trouble thinking of ways to make them balanced I would just take it out IMO. Would still be potent no matter how we added it unless there was a perk but that's shaky...and why wouldn't you just pick Overkill over that perk?

And for the guy flaming me, I don't play MW2 anymore. Suck it.

well lets see, since there are 2 bullets hitting you instead of one, i'd say they arent over powered, but rather realistic. and the guy on the cover art we've seen so far is holding an m1911 (yeaaaah!) in each hand, i'd say we will see it at least sometime. granted, you couldn't akimbo desert eagles or .44 magnums in real life, but for smaller pistols there is nothing wrong with having them akimbo.

here're some suggestions to make them more 'balanced:' (as stated above)

-make them the very last attachment unlocked, for at least, say 100 kills

-reduced accuracy

-reduced rof (since you only have one hand to absorb one gun's recoil, it takes more work and time to re-steady it)

Akimbo Pistols weren't the problem for me. To be honest, I think they were quite balanced. A pistol with the "Akimbo" attachment is more likely to kill someone in Close-Quarter-Combat than with someone with only one... however, the person with only one pistol is at an advantage at longer ranges where aiming is necessary.

Akimbo Machine Pistols, on the other hand, gave me trouble. Especially the Akimbo Raffica's (I think you were referring to those in your original posts. They are basically mini M16's).

No, I was talking about regular pistols which were 2HK's with SP. Sure at range one may be better, but Treyarch is taking out shotguns secondaries for a reason (too much firepower) and akimbo pistols seems like that much too.

I've been reading a lot of posts about Akimbo saying that Akimbo should be left to the pistols (which will become the only secondaries with launchers and the knife as possibilities).

This is NOT a good idea.

For anyone who actually used them in MW2, they were 2HKO's with SP. So basically you click both buttons and get a kill. And if you don't have SP or missed a bullet? YOU KEEP FIRING. With guns like the M9 that had 15 bullets a mag, you were pretty much assured a kill up close. With high powered guns, namely the Deagle and Magnums, you didn't need SP and a 2HK was easy.

What am I trying to say? Treyarch is removing shotgun secondaries and the like because they have too much firepower and Akimbo pistols are simply that. Even if they recieved a big nerf, you're still slapping SMG's and shotgun users in the face. Akimbo pistols should possibly be a primary, perk, or be enabled once you pick up another pistol. For now...no, as it is.

we have been saying this a lot of times, akimbo SHOULDN'T be avaiable for high caliber pistols, only for low caliber ones like the M9 and the UPS.45, oncee akimbo is equiped, there is a HUGE penalty on the weapon accuracy, so in this way you will be able to use them writhout feeling like using a cheap weapon because they are hard to use

and hell, every weapon in COD kills in 2-4 shoots, so stop complaining about "dammit they will kill fast !!", hahaha ya like every other weapon in the game, seriusly, akimbo on pistols FTW !!!

Actually, he's right. I'm sure treyarch feels the same way. And besides, they said they wouldn't copy IW.

Because theyre better than that lol. And i agree that Treyarch feels the same about akimbo's.

I dont like Akimbo' neither.

- Give's any weapon too much power, even handguns

- Looks ridiculous

- I know the game isnt suppose to be exactly like real life but it should atleast try to give the impression of realisim. I dont think firing 1 gun with 1 hand and reloading a gun with the other hand somehow, give's that impression.

And here's another way of looking at it from a weapon discription point of view.

'Dual wield weapon'

Imagine if the attachment description read like this.

'Double the Damage & Magazine size of this weapon at the cost of aiming down sight.'

Now, if people read it like that they'd have probaly played hell with IW.

Because of James Bond shenanigans people think they are going to look B.A. with two guns, but when you look at soldiers running around with two guns they look like idiots. I just feel stupid and I can't stand spectating anyone with akimbo 1887's because you just look like a complete @$$, and these are specialist military Black Ops forces in the game, not rowdy, exotic spies from 60's/70's action films.

akimbo is actually a good idea, but it was really bad implemented in MW2, ppl that hate it have meet at least one time a guy with dual-shooties or dual-G18 and have been buttraped, im not gonna lie, i include myself there, but i started analizing akimbo and if it was balance then it will be a good feature for the game, im pretty sure treyarch can fix what infinity whores couldn't
