Communism and You

Wiki - Communism

Communism is a social structure in which classes are abolished and property is commonly controlled, as well as a political philosophy and social movement that advocates and aims to create such a society

Webster - Communism

A doctrine based on revolutionary Marxian socialism and Marxism-Leninism that was the official ideology of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; also known as a totalitarian system of government in which a single authoritarian party controls state-owned means of production

Google Define - Communism

A form of socialism that abolishes private ownership and a political theory favoring collectivism in a classless society

Karl Marx posited that communism would be the final stage in society, which would be achieved through a proletarian revolution and only possible after a transitional stage develops the productive forces, leading to a superabundance of goods and services.

As a political ideology, communism is usually considered to be a branch of socialism, a broad group of economic and political philosophies that draw on various political and intellectual movements with origins in the work of theorists of the Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution. Communism attempts to offer an alternative to the problems with the capitalist market economy and the legacy of imperialism and nationalism.

Marx once stated:

"In communist society, where nobody has one exclusive sphere of activity but each can become accomplished in any branch he wishes, society regulates the general production and thus makes it possible for me to do one thing today and another tomorrow, to hunt in the morning, fish in the afternoon, rear cattle in the evening, criticise after dinner, just as I have a mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, herdsman or critic."

The only problem presented with communism, is it suggests Laissez-faire style Market, also known as a Free Market. Lake said in Part I of this series, a free market is a market without economic intervention and regulation by government except to outlaw and prosecute force or fraud.

No regulation of Market Regulation and Trade can lead to coruption and monopolizing.

Everyone is familiar with the Communist Federation of Russia, know as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), or Soviet Russia.

The Soviet social system was dominated by the Communist Party, a party based on Marxist-Leninist principles. The Communist Party was the country's state-bearing party, and was the only permitted party. The Secretary of the party was the Soviet Union's most powerful person, and had far more power and influence than the government and parliament. Soviet Union was the world's largest planned economy, where all aspects of economic life were controlled centrally from the capital Moscow.

On December 8, 1991, the presidents of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus signed the Belavezha Accords which declared the Soviet Union dissolved and established the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in its place.

As History tells, a Communist-Socialist Reform can turn a country inside out.

So I present you with the following questions.

1. What is your take on Communism?

2. Do you, personally, think Communism would work in the United States of America?

3. Why do you think Communism failed in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR)?

4. If you were a lead of a failing country and you had a choice between Capitalism or Socialism/Communism, which one would you pick and why?

Communism's success rate is a medium of 48% or a 4.8/10 chance of success, a little bit higher then the success rate of Socialism. Would you want to put your country at risk with those odds? It is hard to say, it all depends on your political beliefs.

1.) I've always thought Communism was bad.

    2.) Nope.

3.) I think they fell apart as a result of exhausting themselves, trying to keep up with The States.

4.) I'd go Capitalist, and see how things pick up.

Funny, communism worked for a while for the Russians but failed in the end.

Now they have capitalism. How's that working out for them? The nation hasn't changed alot.

Many people, hardliners as they are known as, have called for a return to communism.

I think it could work but you'd have to be seriously commited to it.
