I guess in BO3 I didn’t care all that much what character I played with since things like afterburner were a perk and everyone had the same basic movement speed. Youve got a point a though, I can see the forum title now “Havent been able to play with Seraph for 6 hours now”. This might be a subject for a whole other thread too but I was hoping that they would ditch having to check off all the wild cards in create a class, can’t hardly set up one new class between matches in BO3 sometimes. I liked IWs where you just knew how many items you could have and make 2-3 new setups after a match if you were quick about it. Being able to change combat rigs and traits mid game in IW was another nice feature I wish had been in BO3 and would be cool for this year.

Not sure if you played Overwatch but there is such a toxic environment around that community when it comes to character selection. People trash others for not being a healer or picking a sniper or picking a Hero that is not the poplular meta or not picking a defensive character when no else does.

Since there are now healers and those that could put up barricades, your going to see a whole new level of hate cause now this game is going to turn into others complaining cause somone didn't heal at the right time, use the baricade in the right place, set the tact insert in the right area.

Oh and just wait for the exploiting of the tac insert plus the baricade, plus the riot shield plus the barb wire to setup for spawn traps. If I had a regular crew I played with I would already planning how to utilize and position to spawn trap teams. This will be a thing in this game, I have no doubt.

This game is going to be a lot of fun for those that party up and I think it might be a bit of a nightmare at times for solo players.

My oldest son plays OW... and I've heard him comment something like... "Crap... no one picked the healer." After a few games he'll do it but doesn't enjoy the healing characters.

It's for that very reason (not being able to play what you want) that BO4 will quickly decline in players. People play COD for a COD experience not to play COD for a OW experience.

That's my opinion but it should be yours ;-),

It shouldn't be as bad in this game. So far, I haven't seen any specialist abilities that will affect the outcome to the degree that Hero abilities in Overwatch does, but that is without anytime palying it so hard to say for sure. I don't disagree with you though, I don't like the forcing one specialist per team. I think however, if they have a larger variety to choose from it would not be as big of a deal.

Both Seige and Overwatch started out with 20 plus Hero's / Operators at launch and if COD BO4 is so determined to copy and paste the ideas of other games and studios, at least match the content they provided from the start. Based on the compeltely underwhelming level of innovation and creativity I have seen so far, there should be no reason not to have far more specialist than BO3 and IMO, double the amount from BO3 at least.

Siege did not start out with 20 Operators. I believe the actual number was 12 I think. But I know for a fact it was not 20

Wrong, there were 20 the first yea in 2015. Whether you had to unlock some of them or grind for them with points, I have no idea. Now there are like 40 plus. If you think COD will actually do that you are nuts, these guys are cheap as all hell, they do the bare minimum, just enough so they can claim they changed the game. Unless of course they do this as paid content, meaning you have to buy new specialists, than that makes sense for their business model and than we are right back to pay to win. If that is the case, I would put a bunch of money on the fact they will NEVER disclose that until after the game is launched and they have everyone's money.

I haven’t, I’m one of those weird “ COD or nothing” guys lol, although I may be doing Red Dead Redemption, I loved those games. Come to think of it I should just get a PS4, I used to really like all the God Of War games as well. That’s crazy though, I really don’t even want to get involved in another game where getting nonsense hate mail is a regular thing, had my Xbox messages turned off for a year now because of IW. Oh well, at least I can tea bag people and not get msgs still 😂.

Couldnt have said it any better my friend. The more I see, the more I guess if they do the right approach. Especially 5 vs. 5 grinds me the most. I play for 10+ years every CoD now, and it was either 6 vs. 6, or 9 vs. 9 in Ground War. Now why get it reduced to 5 vs 5? I dont get it. Is it probably to counter lag, or just a thing someone was coming up at Treyarch, thinking he have a great idea. I dont get it...

I imagine it probably has more to do with the many complaints about how small maps are and how chaotic previous titles were. I don't have that big of an issue with it really and with a higher health of 150, it might be better balanced that way. Ammo management I imagine will be painful with 150 plus the armor people could spawn in with. I also don't mind it if they are forcing 1 specialist per team. Doesn't mean I like the new concepts, it's just the 5v5 is my smallest concern with what choices they have made.

I've seen a few places mentioning leaks that claimed there would be DLC released, to everybody, for free in an attempt to do away with the fracturing of the playerbase that has traditionally taken place in other CoDs after the first map packs drop. This is one leak I hope pans out, and is true. Not because I want something for free, but because my connectivity issues (with past CoDs) always begin with DLC1, and get progressively worse with each subsequent drop.

I'm totally in agreement about questioning whether or not forced teamwork is a smart move. I also have huge reservations about how they appear to be allowing only one of each specialist per team, forcing a player to play as a specialist they usually never choose. I understand getting players out of their comfort zone, but one player out of their comfort zone can ruin a match for the other 4 players on the team.

I don't know, man. I want to be hyped, but I'm feeling less and less optimistic with each new piece of info we receive. Time Will tell, I guess.

I suspect the 5v5 is to balance the whole specialist concept.

The past 2 TA titles have had the worst connections for me... especially when I'm host. I know that sounds counter-intuitive but...

That's my opinion but it should be yours ;-),

I understand what they are trying to do, but it feels like the people wearing suits don't really connect with the cod community in general. You could ask anyone who tries to play a solo dom match if their teammates have played as a team since bo2.  And the answer would be an overwhelming no. One of the things that scares me most is how most of the people who have gotten the privilege to play say that Tdm sucks now.  Tdm was the staple of cod.  It's been the only non gimmick game mode keeping the franchise gasping for air. And now they want to ruin it? Seems like a move that has a lot more negative potential than positive. And I didn't even touch on hard core and the negative possibilities so far..

This is the biggest change cod has ever made. And I think people are going to either like it or hate it. And I think first week sales (at least) are definitely going to take a hit. I hope the beta helps. And tbh if I were them id have an open alpha and beta. Because it's going to take people time to get used to the change. If they were smart they'd have an alpha in late June, then a beta in mid August.  But I won't hold my breath, they haven't been very good at actual alpha and beta strategy in the past. They need to get this changed game into the hands of the casuals (the main revenue source) as early as possible so they can get used to the change.

I've been suggesting free DLCs since IW on here, and wanting it since at least BO2 or MW3 when the MTs began...to me it's a no brainer...you most likely reel in extra players to buy the game by advertising free DLCs, on top of their CoD point system...more players equals more potential CoD point purchasers...which is a win for them, eventhough it sounds like the CoD point system is already successful for them...the win for the players is, the player pool is no longer split up, which should make ping base MM a whole lot easier and faster....they could still offer a season pass that would allow immediate access to all new weapons, just don't charge as much for it...but they better make new weapons available to everyone in some way through challenges or whatever...
