Is there proof of the age bracket of the offenders in question?  It wouldn't surprise me if they were by young adults unless you equate children to mean legal minors.  As the concept of childhood is a social construct, it's a bit awkward discussing 'children' at times.

TL;DR

Lots of people have inappropriate emblems, they need to be banned.

I think what ruins it is some people in the PET club dont understand the emblems so they dont see it as offensive. Like for example a KKK guy with a bucket of chicken. They dont connect one to two to three.

Well its true. Most customer support is now based in India or China, since the workers will work for less payment than in America or Europe. As a result, they might not understand cultural things which are considered offensive in other countries.

Similarly I wouldn't expect American players to instantly know what IRA and ETA will mean as clan tags.  Saw a French guy with ETA and it doesn't mean estimated time of arrival because that is the abbreviation in English, not French.  May be I could have changed mine to 1415 to see if Frenchy gets all butt hurt.

I with a few others talked a bit about sportsmanship in pages 7-8 in another thread...

http://community.callofduty.com/thread/200785230?start=60&tstart=0#.UnbL9BB_LXU

The concept of sportsmanship, including how to win with humility, how to lose with grace, how competition and perseverance are virtues, and how honestly earning accolades and good stats reflect honor and integrity, is ignored in online gaming.

Internet anonymity and the fact that the games are "virtually" real are used somehow as excuses for dispicable behavior.  I say to this, like I did there in the other thread:  forget accountability to others, how about just to your own conscience.

I guess the key word is conscience.  Whether actual or virtual reality, how you behave will define who you are as a person.  That is, a moral one or not.

Does a "statistically average COD player" know half the words the topic starter used? I doubt it. My personal remedy  is to mute the whole lobby and focus on shooting anything that moves (and occasionally camps).
