I have to admit, after the mediocre Black Ops 2, Ghosts is a bit of a step up for me. Connection-wise, this is definitely an improvement over Black Ops 2, which was one of the worst offenders as far as lag is concerned, and the complete abuse of the lag compensation. This game also shows more of a progression towards much larger map environments... the large maps almost completely dominate the multiplayer here, with the exception of two that are smaller than the rest: Strikezone, and Freight. This particular progression is not what many Call of Duty fans would like too much, since the vast majority of them would prefer small to medium sized maps... which is why I believe the bad spawning garbage started on MW3, which had a lot of small maps; particularly on a map like Dome(the worst offender for bad spawns) --- (Infinity Ward if you are reading this post, as an absolute die-hard Call of Duty fan, I am asking that you DO NOT bring this map back in Ghosts!! It kills me to say it, but Dome is among the worst maps you guys have ever made. Seriously, the spawns were so awful on this one, that its become one of my most hated Call of Duty maps, ever. So whatever you guys at IW do, just dont bring Dome back.) On Ghosts, however, Freight happens to be the only map I'm not particularly a big fan of. Freight suffers from more of a camping problem than bad spawns, I must say though(lots of buildings for camping anyone?). But although I do like the direction they are taking with larger maps, they really didn't quite throw in enough small or medium sized maps to accompany and balance out the larger ones with them. The only guns I can really almost call overpowered are the VEPR and MTAR-X, they aren't much more powerful than the rest of the guns, but they were powerful enough that I could notice. The perk system is pretty good too, but I much prefer the MW3 perk system better. Extinction I actually really like for what it is, it shows that IW has broke away from Spec Ops Survival, and finally did a long-awaited take on Treyarch's "Zombies", by using aliens instead. I think Infinity Ward deserves some gratitude for trying something new, which they haven't done so much for a very long time. Now, Ghosts is one of those Call of Duty games, that for me and a lot of other people, will take time to grow on you; as digging it for me did test my patience at times. If you hate this game at first, keep giving it a chance, and you might have a love for it. If you still don't like it, well thats just you(its ok if you don't like it, lol.) Sorry if some of my writing seems very out of place at times, I tend to do that alot. Ghosts is definitely going to be looked back on as a "love it or hate it" Call of Duty game in the near future, thats for damn sure... also you can definitely tell its not going to age very well. Please excuse my nitpicking. Some things I wrote have not gone into much detail so excuse me for that as well. So if I was one to score this game I'd give it an 8/10. Still far from Infinity Ward's best game, but its not the worst Call of Duty ever either.
Your not alone, I enjoy this game. What you see mostly read is mindless ranting over nothing from a few. Happens in every COD title.
So far im really having a good time with the game, i have played without minding what other players have to say about it, people will eventually start "diging it", remember the stir about the dog? everyone was hating just for that.
So no, you are not alone.
Yep, you 3 are the only ones that dig it.
I so badly wanted to like this game, but matches in COD should not timeout with a final score of 11-20.
Then stop playing it. You know, over exaggerating is far to common here.
I wish I was over exaggerating, HC - KC on Siege, final score 11 - 20.
I do not play HC but in core, killing feels equally as fast as previous titles and in TDM people are constantly running around.
Black Ops 2 was so bad I went back to MW3. This games feels a lot better with the bigger maps and not as many people running around on crack with shotguns and smg's.
I definitely feel like this is a really good game and I have been enjoying playing it.
My K/D isn't worth much right now, but I am still learning.
I am new to the COD series so that makes my perspective a little different than most that are playing.
I just have to get my old reflexes to speed up a bit and get better and shooting from the hip and I will be doing all right.
(somehow I have this bad habit of automatically ADSing every time I see somebody)
The fast and fun action honestly reminds me of the days of Goldeneye on N64 sometimes.
That's good that you're enjoying the game, and there are definitely lots out there that enjoy this. The game has its moments of real good fun for me. I've been playing for years since Call of Duty 4 when many others started playing Call of Duty, and I don't know why though but this game just doesn't have the "it" factor for me.
I try to be level minded now when considering how good a game of Call of Duty is, I'm not one of those players that would just bash the game for no reason and blame lag for every death lol But there are some definite issues in this game imo. The way it takes 3-4 bullets to kill someone on the screen, but have it only show you taking damage from 1 or 2 bullets and then just dying is terrible. Honestly I don't think I've encountered anything like this so consistently in every Call of Duty I've played. My internet is fine, the ping, upload, download, etc. But the way the game is coded, the person getting shot and the person shooting have two drastically different representations on their screens, and that's likely why so often it feels like instant deaths, even though it's apparent that the person shooting you had to shoot you the normal amount of times. I don't know what can fix that, or if that can or will even be fixed in this game. I play well when I focus, but when that kind of death happens so consistently, that honestly feels as close to game breaking a mechanic as I've seen in Call of Duty period. It doesn't seem like the Javelin glitch in MW2 where it can just be patched, it seems like it's built into the game, and that just doesn't bode well imo.
The sad thing is I really enjoy the maps, they're among my favorite of the Call of Duties yet, but the gun mechanics, hit registration, the discrepancies between the shooter and person getting shot, it's just too much. I'm hoping Titanfall is as good as people say it is though lol In my opinion, there's a good amount of potential in this game, and it can be a solid Call of Duty, but if they don't fix the instant death screens, I personally find it easily among the worst, because of how serious the issue is. Possibly the worst. That's just my opinion of course.
