Upcoming improvements for Ghosts eSports (1/16/14)

UPDATE: Jan. 18, 2014

During preparations for the COD Championship online qualification matches, we discovered an eSports settings bug that could potentially affect gameplay performance. Because of our commitment to delivering the best possible experience to players of all levels, along with our partners Gfinity and MLG, we have decided to temporarily conduct qualification with eSports functionality disabled. Rather than postpone the first European rounds, Gfinity will ensure the competitive ruleset is enforced manually. While this means spectators will not benefit from broadcaster mode it guarantees that we're able to provide players the best possible environment in which to compete. Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve the issue.

For more information on our progress with eSports support, please continue to read the listed information below:

The following changes are now live in Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox 360:

    • Restrict Ghillie suits in competitive rules (currently LAN only).
    • Restrict Tracker Sights in competitive rules.
    • Restrict Danger Close in competitive rules.
    • Disable third-person spectating in competitive Private Matches.
    • Add a kill feed to Broadcaster mode.
    • Address Broadcaster mode stability (squash crash bugs).

We appreciate your patience with these updates, and we're continuing to work hard to get the changes live. You can always find the latest fixes and updates for Call of Duty: Ghosts at Ghosts Title Update and Hot Fix Notes (1/16/14). Please don't hesitate to leave feedback in this thread. Thanks everyone!

The team at Infinity Ward wants to express our sincere thanks for the recent dialogue we’ve had with the competitive community. Each constructive conversation, message board post and reddit thread has had a positive impact on our development process. We’re always lurking and listening!

As we tweeted last week during UMG Philly, we'd like to announce some updates we plan to roll out as soon as possible to support competitive Call of Duty based on your feedback. These will appear as both hot fixes and TUs in the coming weeks alongside planned changes to the areas of Ghosts affecting all players, such as spawns. As a guiding principle, development priority is assigned to those issues which we deem to have the largest immediate impact or those affecting the broadest group of players. We'll keep the Upcoming Improvements to Call of Duty: Ghosts page updated in this respect.  Watch out for more info coming soon.

Regarding eSports specifically in the immediate future, we aim to:

    • Restrict Ghillie suits in competitive rules.
    • Restrict Tracker Sights in competitive rules.
    • Restrict Danger Close in competitive rules.
    • Disable third-person spectating in competitive Private Matches.
    • Add a kill feed to Broadcaster mode.
    • Address Broadcaster mode stability (squash crash bugs).

Additionally, we’re committed to delivering the below (in no particular order):

Rules:

    • Removal of split-screen in Private match when eSports rules are enabled.
    • Add eSports rules to Clan vs. Clan playlist.
    • Open Clan v Clan playlist to allow solo player entry & mixed clan teams.
    • Modify Dead Silence/Amplify functionality.

S&D:

    • Resolve the defuse timer animation discrepancy.
    • Modify the defuse time sound effects if the defuse process is cancelled.

Broadcaster Mode:

    • Add game action overlays where needed (flag captures, etc.).
    • Resolve the leaderboard’s red death indicator delay.
    • Roll over player in scoreboard to highlight arrow in mini-map.

New Platform:

    • Investigating the addition of Xbox One LAN support.

We realize this doesn't cover every request made to date; only those we are confident we can deliver at this time. We'll keep you posted regarding future updates. We are committed to providing the best possible multiplayer experience we can and will continue to work on improvements to make it better.  Please keep the communication coming, thanks for your support and we’ll see you online.

Infinity Ward, if you guys are going to help competitive call of duty, at least put in the right game modes to start. We all appreciate you guys making these updates, but what we really need is Hardpoint and CTF. There's a reason domination wasn't played in MW3 and BO2 competitive, because its not a good competitive mode. And Blitz is a complete joke with the whole sneaking concept its all about the luck factor, and CTF is a classic call of duty mode that thousands of people enjoyed playing in public matches. We need Hardpoint and CTF back. If not, at least bring CTF, a gamemode that has been around since the beginning of Call of Duty.

I think domination works quite well in competitive, but blitz not so much because the scores are not normally very close. I think they should try hardpoint although I am not sure if it will work on the maps. If it doesn't work they should bring back CTF because it requires more skilll and teamwork than blitz.

THIS IS GOING TO BE EPIC! CLAN VS CLAN WILL BE AWESOME! However, please make sure to add some sort of competitive ranking system/ladder. If that happens it would finally be the league play everyone is thirsting for. Oh and if hardpoint and CTF were added that would be even more awesomer. If #esports rules will be in clan v clan then will the maps/gametypes be accurate to MLG? cuz S&R is dumb and S&R in stonehaven is even more stupid

Clan VS. Clan would be Great if activision/blizzard would do something about all the "Hackers" in "STEAM" (PC platform). BUt hardly anyone ever plays because all the hackers have ruined the game for us and Activision does absolutely NOTHING about about. I have tried many many times to get into clan vs. clan and do clan objectives but the game has been completely destroyed by the people that insist on IDIOTS.
