Some Pretty Cool Tips You Might Not Have Known.

  • The holograph sight has an orange meter on the left side of it. A lot of people think that this is a range finder but are wrong. It actually is a damage reader. While aiming down the sight with the holograph, aiming at something or someone close will give a reading of 100 meaning that you will do more damage at that range. But aiming at something further away, you may get a reading of 75 to 50 meaning you will do less damage and will need to hit them more than just once. Finally, at a very far range you will get a reading of 0 which means you just shouldn't go for that shot.
  • The USR and the L115 have a Recoil Compensator mounted on the top of them. Once you get a kill with one of these guns a skull will appear on the small screen. Rack up four kills in a row, where there are four skulls on the screen, the recoil for the following shots is significantly reduced. I believe that the recoil goes down a little after each consecutive shot, but if it is it's a small amount. After four consecutive shots the recoil is greatly reduced.
  • If you run a squadmate as one of your killstreaks, placing an ammo crate in front of him will make him go to the ammo crate and replace his pistol with a better gun from the ammo crate. Sometimes they will pull out the special weapon and run around with a minigun.
  • Placing one SAT-COM down is pretty much useless. One SAT-COM only shows enemies that other members of your team have seen. Placing two SAT-COMs down at one time gives you a full map sweep and shows enemies regardless of if your teammates have laid eyes on them.

  Good stuff there, thanks.

Not sure about the satcom thing though, as they work in ffa and ksrs dont usually change what they do from one mode to another.  I was under the impression it was only area it covered that changed.

one sat com is eyes on mode meaning someone has seen the player

2 or more develops a sweep

as more are placed 3 or 4 you get a faster sweep and the dots will change to triangles

when playing HC 1 SATCOM doesn't just bring up a HUD, but locates the enemy fire too. so that helps a lot actually since most everyone doesn't run around with a silencer unless they loveses the Honeybadger

I've heard about the recoil compensation on snipers but never noticed the skulls. i'll be looking the next time I play. Well done.

Ive done the squad mate/amo crate thing several times. All he picks up is a rocket launcher....rendering him useless.

Is this the norm? Because i quickly stopped using that combo.

I brought one of these up in my other post, but here are some more:

  • Place a Trophy System and attach an IED to the spinning mechanism. It will blend in and no one will notice. The trophy system will deflect as usual, while the IED will serve to protect it from someone that may come up to it to knife it. The effect is a Sword-and-Shield combo, and if you add the Danger Close perk, it will be even better. (This is a great combo to use in Domination from a hidden point. The enemy will notice the usual C4 they threw was blown up and go check on the Trophy system, then BOOM!)
  • Get into the habit of throwing your IEDs UP rather than forward. It is often easy to notice an IED from faraway without even the beeping if it is on the wall or on the ground or even "inside some boxes", because it flashes. If you attach it onto a ceiling, however, the enemy will not see it. The well-known rule, "people seldom look up," applies fairly well here, since many levels have buildings.
  • Due to the "being able to use equipment while fully hiding behind a shield" thing, do not walk directly AT an enemy holding a shield. Chances are he is not going up to you to try and bash you, but rather, he is going up to you to throw either a knife or a C4 in mid-air explosion mode.
  • If you come across a few campers, do not knife either. Instead, shoot them, even though it will reveal your position. The knifing animation has made it impossible to quickly knife people in this game unless you have a pistol with Melee Knife as an attachment. You will, more likely than not, be killed by one of the other guys, and lose your chance at a good 2 or 3 kill ambush without having to reload. (Also, you cannot trust the game is showing you in which direction the guys are ACTUALLY looking at the moment you arrive. There are connection compensation issues all the time.)

That's all for now. Thanks for reading. This is a great discussion.

In reference to not knifing campers, if you do a tactical slide and knife, you do the oldschool Modern Warfare knife swipe, which can also happen when someone is at a different level than you. It is possible you've seen someone knife swipe you while you were on stairs or while someone was standing on a raised/lowered level or some sort of climbable object. Attempting to knife prone players while you are standing/squatting will also use the swipe animation instead of the normal attaching knife animation.
