MW3 Assault vs Specialist

Hey All!  What do you think helps out your team in objective based games more, Assault or Specialist?  On one hand, with Specialist you can run from flag to flag very quickly, have the advantage in every gunfight due to all perks and proficiencies, and thus are able to play more agressively.  In the below vid I talk about Assault vs Specialist, along with my Iphone 5 line experience.

With Assault, you may have to play a bit more conservative due to less perks and slower movement.  Also, if the other team is running stingers and/or Blind Eye your Assault loadout could be next to useless.  BUT if the streaks are not being shot down, they can help defend the objective, and make the enemy team scared of going outside and after objectives.

So, what do you prefer in objective based games, what helps the team most, or do you think it's Support??

Support is the most useful if for no other reason Ballistic Vests.  A couple of guys running Assualt can help suppress but mainly you want Support players.  Specialist is great for the guy running it but not all that helpful to the team when compared to the others.

As much as we dislike this particular strike package, Support is the best package to help out out your team in objective game modes.

However, since you're comparing Assault vs. Specialist, I still stand by Assault being the most helpful in objective game modes in which I gave my reasons in a previous discussion that was created by you.

Despite Assault pointstreaks being able to be shot down quickly, it causes a distraction for the opposition to take it down.

Also, there are other pointstreaks (IMS, Precision Airstrikes, Assault Juggernaut) that are still effective assault pointstreaks that either defend objective points if placed properly or can cause a distraction when you have a player with extra armor taking the enemy down with a M60.

Just using an example of mine of how good the IMS can be:

Great responses guys.  Agreed Support can also be very good if not the best, especially since you don't have to stay alive, which gives you more incentive to go after objectives even with a high risk of dying.

IMO Specialist can be extremely good in a lobby of Stinger users, which is frequent in this game.  I can sometimes effectively defend a flag single-handedly with Specialist Bonus.  If I already have better gun skill than the other team AND get all perks and proficiencies it creates a situation where I can run through entire teams on my way to a flag or defending one.

I think maybe the best answer between the 3, is a team where it's mixed.  2 Assault, 2 Specialist, 2 Support runners in a 6v6.  Best of All Worlds!

Depends on the game mode.  I find Support pretty much worthless in core TDM.  SAM Turrets struggle to shoot down UAVs, the AUAV is no Blackbird and the Stealth Bomber will be lucky to get a multi kill and can cause problems with teammates who are in an engagement.

You can have more people rocking Assault but different killstreaks instead.

Didn't realise the IMS were awarded normally rather than by crate award as I think it says this in the official guide.  Might be tempted to use it myself as protection to Sentry Guns.  Then I should get the Reaper.  Lower killstreaks recycled more often can be more productive than trying for an Osprey Gunner, for example.  The fact that Assault killstreaks stack outweigh the other two, unless I'm using snipers then I might use Specialist.  Even then, I'd still be tempted to use Pred/Heli/Reaper.

Vims, beautiful placement of that IMS.  Placement of those things is KEY.  Seen too many people plunk them out in the open, where they can be seen (and shot) before an enemy gets close enough to activate it.

Support is indeed very useful in objective games, mainly and only in my opinion due to EMP

If your whole team has EMP killstreak and uses them consecutively it can really change the game. But this does indeed require a team of players working together and communicating with each other.

All other support killstreaks can be countered or have little benefit.

Failing that I would always go Assault.  Predator Missiles, Airstrikes, Reapers and AC-30's will change a game.  I play a lot of domination and can change a game on my own using these rewards, because once I get a couple or so kills with a pred missile, the reaper is normally quite easy to get after that, and then the AC-30 is easy to get after that.  Defending flags with a reaper and then an AC-30 (on the right maps) is REALLY helpful for the objective of the game.

Specialist only really helps one person and although people like to refer to it as "god" mode... "god" mode it isnt.

Realisticly a combination of Assault and Support would possibly be the best option.

My vote for most usefull KS reward while playing objectively would be Support.  If you're worried about losing your current KS, then you won't be playing the objective as recklessly which can ultimately cost you the game if the score is close at the end.  Specialist is selfish (but very fun).  Assaut KS rewards get shot down too quickly, and are selfish in nature also.

With Support equipped, you can fearlessly attack the objective without worrying about losing your streak.  The combo AUAV, Stealth Bomber, and any of the top tier rewards will go a long way towards winning a game.

1 or 2 players or even 3 getting a stealth bomber in a game is not going to give you the win. For players that play to win. having a team with knowledge and skill is the most important. I play with a full team all the time. I use assault streaks only. It keeps the other team in check and off flags. When the other team is running support it is more of a annoyance than anything else. Skill always wins over streaks.

I play solo (Demolition) all the time, so I don't have the luxury of coordinating my KS with teammates.  A well placed SB run will clear a bombsite, allowing for relatively easy plant/defuse.  The upper tier Support KS (EMP, Jugg, multi package drop - can't remember the name) all are very good when playing Demo.

I guess I prefer them because I've had the most success with them, and I have a solo W/L record to prove it.  I don't like slowing down to protect my precious killstreak, so Support works best for me and seems to have the biggest impact on the outcome of the game.
