What earns one the term "tryhard"?

I never knew what behaviour a tryhard had to in COD to earn that title.  I mean doesn't everyone tryhard to win a game or  a match in COD?

Here are some urban dictionary entries on the matter.

7.In regards to recreational activities or video games, someone who must put forth 100% effort to come out victorious. As opposed to someone who doesn't need to do their best to win a game or contest.

1. A face-saving insult used by someone who is feeling inadequate. Basically accuses anyone who is better than them at anything of putting in effort. Doubles as an excuse for sucking by implying lack of effort on the speaker's part.

2. An insult blatantly misused by 13-year-old kiddies in online gaming who, ironically, try very hard to win themselves and take it too seriously when they lose.

So which ones apply to tryhards in this game?  If any.  Or what type of playstile makes someone a try hard?  Is there a standard criteria for this that I don't know about?  Sometimes I think trickshotters.  That fits in with the "hey look what I can do" definition, but they are just trying to look cool, while occasionally getting lucky.

Can someone give me some tryhard examples and elaborate as much as possible.

Pretty much a punk ass excuse for getting owned. If you destroy someone they will come up with some excuse because they can't accept they are trash. People just can't accept how bad they are.

The random on your team that thinks its cool to use the Draugnov with Silencer and Thermal. When players who don't have the skill level to compete in that lobby use weapons that they are not effective with. That is what I usually refer to as try-harding. Something a little different then the more common definition of a player that is willing to do anything to win and thus runs the ole' MP7 w/Silencer & Ex.Mags and sits his arse in a corner.

A *tryhard* is someone who is better than the person saying it.

From my experiences at least.

A try hard to me is the little dweebs who jump shot pre fire around EVERY corner, Jump, crouch, and prone like they have seizures whenever they encounter enemy fire, use rapid fire and silencer, uses FMG Akimbos alongside sayed Rapid Fire weapons (different from Noobs who use them as primaries full round), and drop shot like its hot.

I think a try hard would be someone who might be a decent player, but is a rager.  they obviously didnt have funw itht he game, regardless of doingw ell, so id classify that as a try hard

Tryhard is one of those sad little derogatory CoDisms that the speaker thinks makes them sound cool... it doesn't... Direction of said expression towards another player automatically makes you a complete muppet who really needs to get a life

When you own someone and they look for an excuse of why they are getting owned.
