Learn to traverse the map, also connection speeds, lag ect has a lot to do with it (and luck).
Try to flank your opposition, if you know your team are on one side of the map, you will know the enemy are spawning on the other. Its never a good idea to try and take 2 or 3 enemies on a one on one gun fight.
In most matches you will start to see patterns begin to form, I've found that its easier to play when you catch onto this subtle changes, eg. was playing Bay view yesterday, the other team was full of rushers, i managed to get 30 and 10 just by flaking them from behind.
Also i used Kontrol Freeks i have found at long distances its helped with my aiming heaps.
The Best advice is find decent people who will take some time to game with you point out your flaws and help you work through them . at the end of the day advice on weapons or loadouts is subjective to your style of play be it sniper, camper, R & G its finding what works for you
It's hard for me to give any good advice when I have never personally seen you play lol But if you'd like you can click on my name and send me your gamtertag and we can set up a time to get online together a play a few games. I'm not the best player in the world but I consider myself to be pretty good lolol.I'm sure I can at least give you some good pointers after I see you play.
the best weapons in ghosts are the ar's so try them out unless you are a more you close player I would suggest the mtar, bulldog or the k7. If you find it diffcult to get killstreaks try support hope this helped.
I think you need to slow down your game and use strong assault rifles like the remington r5, i actually have quite a few tips on my youtube channel if youd like to check it out.

You don't need to use a specific weapon to do well. That's a very cheesey way of telling someone how to play the game. Also, no matter what weapon you use it won't help if you don't have the setup to go with it.
using the right guns will help. There are many guns that are severely outclassed, and part of being a good player is knowing which guns to use.
AR: Remington, honeybadger, ak12
SMG: Ripper, mtar, vector, also don't use stalker with an SMG
These are the guns worth using in this game. Anything else puts you at a disadvantage.
Required perks on every class: Deadsilence, Focus, and either Quickdraw or Stalker but not both.
Don't use tacticals or lethals, they are a 1 time use per life and cannot be scavenged as in previous CoDs.
Don't use a secondary, all secondaries are bad and not worth using in any situation. They only take up perk slots.
Knowing this can only help someone get better. Setting a class up correctly won't make you instantly good but it helps.
Yet I have a 4 kd with the Maverick A-2 and L115 sniper rifles and get 15-20 kills and about 3-5 deaths every game I play with them running default support. I'm sorry, but your arguments are invalid. Using weapons effectively comes down to map knowledge and gun skill far more than what weapon they are using.
My worst account has a 5.6 kd and I got the dog patch for the 200 kills with akimbo pistols on that account. In fact my KD was only like ~1.3 through that challenge, but I used it to learn all the parts of the maps I didn't understand.
There are certain weapons I would avoid: SA-805, CBJ SMG, Lynx, and MSBS. The magnum and P226 are very good sidearms and will out dual all ARs in close range. Pistols are only necessary if you are using a sniper, but otherwise I agree that you can better use the extra perk slot. Any other weapon is fine to use so long as you know what you are doing. The Bulldog and Tac 12 are not outclassed and neither are most of the snipers. It is the weakness of the players using them that make them feel underpowered. I have no trouble leading lobbies with any weapon in this game. I see kids every day with sub 1 kd that have the Remington or AK-12 as their favorite weapon. If someone were strictly going for a high KD then the M27 would be the most overpowered weapon.
There are uses for lethals and tacticals, but I would run them in a backup class. I would rather the OP give us his setups and then explain how to use them more properly or make minor tweaks. If you recommend smgs then you should put on steady aim. It's better than using quickdraw for most instances especially since they already outclass ARs in ADS speed.
No offense, but players who clearly are not that good at Ghosts should not be giving tips. If you can only use a handful of weapons and think the rest are underpowered then you don't have enough skills to offer tips.
You missed the point completely. He's not good at the game, so he should at the very least set up his class optimally. I didn't say you can't do well with other guns, just don't pretend the guns I listed aren't overpowered.
Don't tell me I'm not good at the game either bud, 3.5 k/d playing on easily 100+ ping, dropping kems every day and I use specialist almost exclusively. If I wanted to go to 5 k/d I could just abuse the assault streak snowball in this game but it's not as fun to me. I could easily lead any lobby in this game with any underpowered gun too, because most people in this game are bad and can't even go positive. I've tried all the weapons, and I use what I feel are the strongest.
