X1 offers a a new match making system called SMART MATCH.
Now a few gallp guesses.
- SMART MATCH is provided via Xbox live
- xbl take over match making enabling this function to be dropped in part of full from the new CoD engine
- Combined With new XBL server network which was reported in Wired to provide dedis for all MP games
- We my just see the end of host migration and I improved match making
Too long a bow? What do you think/feel.
I personally would rather not have join in progress than not have host migrations.
So match making is done through XBL?
I don't think this will go over well. It seems like a good idea, but think of many resources are going to go into making sure this is fast and effective for EVERY multiplayer game. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out
Yeah, Xbox has different than Sony. I think Sony may use Demonware.
Dedi's will be at the devs choice, not that they will be there and happen by default. The devs will have to decide if they want to pay MS for this feature. Any guesses toward what Acti and IW will do?... not pay. Plus this is jut for the matchmaking and not for the actual game play server. Ghosts will still use listen servers aka client hosted games.
All swings on Ativisions leverage in negotiating rental prices vs upside returns. Squaring up the dollars make for some interesting math
I really hope not many FPS devs use this matchmaking system, because it is "skill based" and not connection based.
if they use the xbox live for matchmaking, surely that will knockout cross platform play
How can it knockout cross platform play, when you could never cross platform play to begin with for any game.
