Removing the 91 fps limit

World at War Forum

Hi there

I have read that the 91 fps limit can be removed by the command "com_maxfps 0" or another value of choice. Problem is that it dont work for me... am I missing something?

Make sure Vsync is off.

I believe there is a command like max_fps 100 (to what ever you type) or something like that go in console and type help.

If you do it in console during game play it is:

/seta com_maxfps 125

But you need to bind it to a key or it will keep resetting after each map.

If you edit your MP config it is put in:

C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW\players\profiles\Your Name\config_mp.cfg

Open it with Word Pad or note pad and change the setting to this:

com_maxfps 125

Save and close.

Hmm, never happened to me.

I changed the value to 125 straight at the release of WaW and it never changed back (it is still at 125).

In the console just type /com_maxfps 125

The change made is then permanent (or command is reissued w/another value)

EDIT: But yes you need to disable vsync to go over the games internal max fps.

I think it's important to mention;

By disabling Vertical Synch you are subjecting your image to Tearing.

That is where half of two frames is joined together on-screen as the monitor tries to render both.

It's not dangerous to your monitor or hardware, it just looks rather odd.

Also, i don't know why people are saying it's a 91 fps limit.

I've installed and uninstalled this game about 6 times since i got it, due to windows 7 updates, re-installs, getting a new pc or whatnot.

The default max frame-rate is 100 fps, not 91.

If you are getting 91 FPS it's because your monitor only supports 91 and needs an upgrade.

The human visual pathway in no way mimics that of an artificial visual system (like a monitor or TV), so it doesn't have a "frame rate". However; you are probably right in saying that a constant framerate of around 60fps is going to be indistinguishable from anything higher.
