    Stealth Chopper Placement:  Tips

    Yppecaye_the_Dogged

So how annoying is it to have your hard earned Stealth Chopper shot down before it even had a chance to get into the map.

Until very recently I just quickly placed where most of the opponents were and hoped for the best.  This worked well maybe 1 out of 7 times.

Recently, however, I've been placing it as far as possible outside of the map, behind where I think the opponents will likely spawn for a couple of rounds, or behind where my team is likely to spawn for a while.  This did wonders and at the very least it's no longer getting shot down before it even gets a kill.

The reason is if you put it behind the opponents, because they're usually looking for it in front of them, your chopper has a bit more time to get into position.  Morever, if they do find it, they'll have to shoot outside of the map, turning their back against the rest of the map.  Easy killing for you and teammates.

Putting it behind your own team's spawn helps because it puts the chopper very far away from the other team.  This keeps them at their spawn and they'll have to shoot it from far away and therefore again gives your chopper a bit more time in the air.

Not a perfect solution.  But it's worked much better than just throwing it in anywhere on the map.

Like I said it's not perfect.  I put one up in Uplink today behind our team's spawn on the control room side and saw something I've never seen.

The chopper hovered and hoverd and lived through its entire life without a kill.  In fact, I don't think the poor thing even took a shot.  And I don't think the other team even bothered with it because it was so out of play.

Oh well, at least it didn't get shot down the first 5 seconds.

              very good advice.

Very interesting way of using the stealth chopper. I usually just toss it in the middle of the map, lol.

Have you tried using a Stealth Chopper/Escort Drone Combo for possibly locking down the enemy in the spawn?  Earn both, drop Stealth behind enemy and activate your Escort Drone and sandwhich the enemy between the 2.

That's a pretty good tip, actually.

Will definitely try and give it a shot.

I used to try a whole bunch of different methods - put it in the middle of the map, put it over their spawn, put it over B-dom, etc.

Recently I found that my best option was to just put it right over where I was, or where I intended to be.

Playing dom on standoff, and sniping outside of the blue building? Put it over the blue building and it cleans up anyone pushing the building for you.

Like to hold down building 2 on Turbine while playing Dom? Put it over building 2 and let it pick people off.

That way, it almost acts as an escort drone, protecting you.

I found that the worst possible placement was right ontop of the enemy spawn/flag. Something about the stealth chopper prevents it from shooting directly beneath it, so if enemies are spawning right below it, it won't get kills. However, it is capable of taking out enemies on the other side of the map with crazy precision.

Yeah I only place it on OBJ when I know the team rushes. Other then that I place it on our spawn to keep enemies from Spawn Traping.
