Like I said it's not perfect. I put one up in Uplink today behind our team's spawn on the control room side and saw something I've never seen.
The chopper hovered and hoverd and lived through its entire life without a kill. In fact, I don't think the poor thing even took a shot. And I don't think the other team even bothered with it because it was so out of play.
Oh well, at least it didn't get shot down the first 5 seconds.
Very interesting way of using the stealth chopper. I usually just toss it in the middle of the map, lol.
Have you tried using a Stealth Chopper/Escort Drone Combo for possibly locking down the enemy in the spawn? Earn both, drop Stealth behind enemy and activate your Escort Drone and sandwhich the enemy between the 2.
That's a pretty good tip, actually.
Will definitely try and give it a shot.
I used to try a whole bunch of different methods - put it in the middle of the map, put it over their spawn, put it over B-dom, etc.
Recently I found that my best option was to just put it right over where I was, or where I intended to be.
Playing dom on standoff, and sniping outside of the blue building? Put it over the blue building and it cleans up anyone pushing the building for you.
Like to hold down building 2 on Turbine while playing Dom? Put it over building 2 and let it pick people off.
That way, it almost acts as an escort drone, protecting you.
I found that the worst possible placement was right ontop of the enemy spawn/flag. Something about the stealth chopper prevents it from shooting directly beneath it, so if enemies are spawning right below it, it won't get kills. However, it is capable of taking out enemies on the other side of the map with crazy precision.
