Re: COD: Ghosts Solution for Nvidia users ONLY!
dima_mayd Nov 11, 2013 4:53 AM (in response to lDreddl)And how it works? Is it making high FPS or removing lags?-
Re: COD: Ghosts Solution for Nvidia users ONLY!
Sektz Nov 11, 2013 5:31 AM (in response to dima_mayd)It should fix the compatibility issue with NVIDIA, hopefully it works.
-
Re: COD: Ghosts Solution for Nvidia users ONLY!
lDreddl Nov 11, 2013 10:11 AM (in response to dima_mayd)Just like Sektz said, it fixes the compatibility/Stability issues with users using NVIDIA which should fix FPS, crashing, freezing, etc. For some weird reason COD: Ghosts only likes to work using a single display instead of the usual multiple displays that majority of games use hence why Ghosts was not optimized for PC's. Once you switch it then you can optimize the game which will actually give you the correct optimized settings for Ghosts.

Re: COD: Ghosts Solution for Nvidia users ONLY!
Barakkus67 Nov 11, 2013 7:35 AM (in response to lDreddl)Even better solution...
GeForce Experience Tweaks your Game Settings Automatically | GeForce
Will detect game settings and optimize for you... work like a champ for me!!

Re: COD: Ghosts Solution for Nvidia users ONLY!
_TangoDown Nov 11, 2013 9:46 AM (in response to lDreddl)Tried this but it still lags, pretty sure it is the lagcomp. FPS with my settings 80-91
-
Re: COD: Ghosts Solution for Nvidia users ONLY!
lDreddl Nov 11, 2013 10:12 AM (in response to _TangoDown)This solution only effects the compatibility/stability of Ghosts not the lag unfortunately.

Re: COD: Ghosts Solution for Nvidia users ONLY!
wierd worlds are these Nov 11, 2013 10:54 AM (in response to lDreddl)I saw this post whilst I was in work and couldn't try it, but I changed that setting as well as some other and the game is now pretty much smooth for me.
The settings I changed in the Nvidia Control Panel are:
1: Multi-Display/mixed-GPU acceleration From Multiple Display Performance Mode to Single Display Performance Mode
2: Power Management Mode - From Adaptive to Prefer Maximum Performance
3: Texture Filtering Quality - From Quality to High Performance
4: Vertical Synce From Use 3D Application to Off
In the gamemp.cfg file located in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Call of Duty Ghosts\players2
seta cl_packetdup From 2 to 5
seta r_elevatedPriority From 1 to 0
seta cl_maxPing From 800 to 60
Those changes seem to have made it quite allot more smoother and better to play.
Now all we need is the FOV changer to be approved so you don't get banned and I will be somewhat a little more happy with this game.
The annoying thing is that there is a line in the config to do with a server browser, so they need to hurry up and release the server browser and rentable ranked dedicated servers if they want, to have any hope of this game having more than a couple of thousand people playing it after January or even after Titanfall releases.

Re: COD: Ghosts Solution for Nvidia users ONLY!
DJ-Bubblez Nov 11, 2013 2:34 PM (in response to lDreddl)I installed Cod Ghosts but I can't find it in program to customize in Nvidia control panel. Can you explain more in detail. DO you have to add to the program list?
-
Re: COD: Ghosts Solution for Nvidia users ONLY!
fockfaces Nov 11, 2013 5:13 PM (in response to DJ-Bubblez)Yes, all recently launched .exe files will be at the top of the list you get when you click "add". So launch ghosts if you haven't already, exit, then open nvidia control panel again and in the "program settings" tab click "add" and iw6 laucher will be at the very top.

Re: COD: Ghosts Solution for Nvidia users ONLY!
TombedOrchestra Nov 11, 2013 5:22 PM (in response to lDreddl)Changing the priority to 'normal' rather than 'high' improved performance only slightly. Some maps are fairly smooth (still have FPS issues).. however, other maps such as Whiteout, Siege, and Octane are terrible.
-
Re: COD: Ghosts Solution for Nvidia users ONLY!
gdscrtr Nov 14, 2013 8:53 AM (in response to lDreddl)I don't know why but setting the priority to "normal" doesn't last with me. I can set it to normal everytime I start Ghosts but it always reverts back to High upon exiting. Actually I've found that setting seta r_autopriority "0" in config_mp.cfg makes it High and to "1" sets it to start in "Low". I've started using Process Lasso Freeware and fooled around with settings until it stays in "normal" everytime you start Ghosts and gameplay has been a lil less laggy. Edit: It seems people don't label things they post the same way this game is new. It can help to run it with cpu usage in normal priority this is achieved thru seta r_autopriority and seta r_elevatedpriority in your config_mp.cfg file. Setting auto to 1 and elevated to 1 = low in task manager, auto1 elevated 0 = low, auto 1 elevated 1 = high, auto 0 elevated 0 = normal which can be less laggy. If you tried the third party software I tried you have more control over the cpu priorities and other similar priorities but you won't need any of those if the patch fixes the lag.

Re: COD: Ghosts Solution for Nvidia users ONLY!
damze Nov 12, 2013 2:48 PM (in response to lDreddl)This so called solution is a complete and utter nonesense. The multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration setting only affect openGL rendering on mutliple screen with mixed GPUs. This has absolutely nothing to do with Ghosts which uses DirectX.
-
Re: COD: Ghosts Solution for Nvidia users ONLY!
lDreddl Nov 13, 2013 12:39 AM (in response to damze)For some strange reason it does effect Ghosts, I do not know why but it does and in a big way. When me and my friend changed the settings from multiple GPU's to single GPU the game ran perfectly for us and its also worked for other players as you can see from this thread so how can you say its utter nonsense when the thread begs the differ unless you did not read the thread and just assumed that I was speaking utter nonsense! We all know that Ghosts was poorly designed for PC's hence all the problems players are having with the game and for some strange reason Ghosts does not want some PC's to run Multi-display GPU's and just wants to run on a single-display which I do agree with you makes no sense but the only people who can answer this is IW.

eatshawn Feb 1, 2014 3:08 AM (in response to lDreddl)Holy crap...THANK YOU! This is much better than my solution; run Ghosts on a second drive on my computer altogether. I've got 2 gtx670s running 3 monitors and every other game works just fine, but Ghosts on PC is such a disappointment. Oh well. At least I can play the game now. Thanks again!

Of course, they will never put a ton of work into fixing this because they have all basically moved on to which ever project they are next, this year's release, or next year's release. PLUS< they have our $ already!
OK, honestly, you can tell me, how does it feel to be screwed with your pants on? I think it SUX big time, I mean IW didn't even buy me dinner first!
