That is actually the goal of Clan Wars. When you captured a Node (territory), the other clans will try and capture them by gaining wins. (say you own a Kill Confirmed node which need 14 wins to own, they will need to win 14 games to capture that node from you). But the points CP (Capture Points) that they will earn is lesser than what you have.
Once a node is captured, the wins that you have on that node become it's defenses. Any wins within that game mode that you get while you hold that node will add to its defenses up to the max defense cap. Any wins that the other clans get towards that node will remove defenses. Once your defenses reach zero the node reopens and the race to capture it begins again. Since your wins (defenses) have been knocked down to zero that's where your clan would start the race. The other clans get to pick up where they left off before you capped the node. So if they had 14 wins on the node then they get to start the race with 14 wins already in place.
